need some suggestions for the EF interviews i'm gonna start doing

got a good bunch of peeps in mind, starting with poboy if he submits.
but the help i need is with the format...i wanna hsve it be conversational and friendly, like a phone convo or person to person convo.
but i can't record over the cell phone and meating in person is not feasible, so what's the best way?
needto suggested PM's but i think that's too slow.

yes you can copy/paste in chat. Some vista OS have problems, but you can just highlight and click control-c to get around it.

Depending on how long the convo is..yes you could do that. The chat window only stores so many lines before they "fall off".

but i don't want a boring ass interview that nobody reads or is interested in.
a lotta the questions i have in mind are quick reply no brainers, funny stuff
and a few questions will be more serious...but i don't want to misquote or use shit that wasn't meant to be used, or the interviewer didn't want out there.
so i will install two safety nets:
-a solid understanding between me and the interviewer, before the interview starts, that what is said is gonna be used in public on EF
-after the interview is complete, a transcript will be sent to the participant for review...anything that they don't want made public i will redact.

Bino, if you're looking to do anything academic or scientific with it, you probably should use a survey or questionnaire. There are some really good sources of info on how to balance them and maximize their analytical value.

Just fyi -- interviews are decent for exploratory research, but really terrible for experimental research.

the problem with most of the interviews I’ve read on here is that they read more like a questionnaire than a conversation, not much probing further or input from the interviewer, rhetoric makes for a better read

I would go with a normal IM chat... have your questions flow in normal conversation. If you give someone too much time to think about a question its more than likely they will glorify the answer.
