I was wondering if taking 1000 mg of it is too much for anemia, that was prescribed by the doctor, I remember my wife used to 600 mg when she was pregnant so I thought maybe my doc. made a mistake, he is on vacation so I can not contact him, also does it cause any side effects? thank you

Excess folate levels can actually cause major issues with glucose management and insulin resistance.

The only people who should be supplement with folic acid are women of child bearing age. For anyone else - it'll actually do more harm then good.

Also, anemia is an iron deficiency. Why the heck would you take folic acid if you have anemia?
