BB row or Smith Machine BB row

I have been doing BB rows for quite some time now. Right now I can do 295 for 5 sets of 5. I have been throwing around the idea of doing them on a smith machine. Does this have any advantages or disadvantages compared to a normal BB row?

it's a bit easier to hold and squeeze at the top and a lot easier to control, but i suppose there has to be a downside, cuz i never see anyone do them. hell, i hardly see anyone do bb rows period.

I just don't see a purpose for the smith machine......I really don't.

Doing anything on the smith machine can take away from the natural range of motion of the intended exercise... I try to avoid anything on the smith because you also don't use your stabilizers as much which IMO are an important part of strength building.

Peace
