Back and neck muscle pain

So I went to the gym a couple days ago. We tried a heavier DL then we normally do. It was around 185 a lil bit. Like 8x. So a day later or so I notice my muscles that connect to my neck are a bit sore and my lower back. Did I use bad form to do it? Its not a sore like a pain. Its like my muscles got a good work out. Should my neck muscles be like that too?
 
quite normal your just finding a new muscle group. Ran into that when I got heavy when it came to hams. Never bothered me and then one day wham new weight new muscle group
 
Do you guys ever switch up your hand grips? Like palm out for one and palm in for the other? It allows me to grip it easier.
 
grip however feels comfortable for you.
i have friends that do both underhand and one under/one over.
sometimes when i do partial i'll do a supinated grip just for a change.
it puts a differnet squeeze on your back but you have to be careful to not overstrain your biceps
