alright people, let's hear some of your favourite quotes spoken by individuals throughout history (sorry ladies and gents, homer simpson doesnt count!). :mix:

"The one thing we yearn for in our living days, that makes us sigh and groan and undergo sweet nauseas of all kinds, is the rememberance of some lost bliss that was probably experienced in the womb and can only be reproduced at death."
-Jack Kerouac

"Without music, life would be a mistake."

Nietzsche

"Disgraced man, survivors of the wasteland, looking for a home of his own. No place to run, no place to hide, it's time for you to stand on your own. Militia, coalition, not of this world - Resistance, we the alliance, we freedom fighters, it's honor we defend. We follow truth and never your trends, Brother take my hand, let's seperate ourselves. Leave behind this place, don't ever look back. I'm an outkast, but don't count me out - Brace yourself, Like a Man."

- Sonny Sandoval

"Embrace me,
Suffocate me,
Forsake me,
Regulate me,

Twisting,
Turning,
Yourning,
Burning,

Bloody tears,
Stepping down on petty fears,
Heart beats cold,
Blood boils, my anguish untold

I'm walking,
Drop back - Forgive their senseless talking.

On my back,
Staring up - Hypnotized by the night,
It's a battle inside,
Eternal wounds I fight.

You look me in the eyes,
Your crimson mask unending malice,
I raise my fist to the sky,
Proclaim entry to the palace.

Back away now,
It's the final revelation,
I've conquered you,
I've resisted - lust and temptation.

Your screams are piercing,
My path is chosen,
I'm above you,
How does it feel, contempt and fury rendered frozen?"

- Me, "Untitled".

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed"

It's very powerful Revenant

Not exactly the 'way of the cross' though, is it? :eek2:

Do you have a poem about that?

Helen,

Actually the message of it begins as I did, not following the path of God. My own self loathing, and loathing for any other human being consuming me to the point where I thought I had no escape. And then the day came when I made the step, stared Satan himself back in the face and said, "You can't touch me." The crimson mask, as we often see the devil depicted... red flesh.

The screams are his protests, and his constant fight to pull Jah's children away from him. His frustration in knowing, that once we've stepped away from darkness, we become the very bane of his existance.

Frozen, of course ice... the opposite of Hell's flames.

So in it's own subtle way, it is the way of the cross. But it describes the fight within.

-

And the eyes to Zion quote is from a song done by P.O.D. on the Fundamental Elements of Southdown album.

Yes, then, I understood rightly; thanks for the explanation; I respect what you are saying...

But still, it's not the way of the cross...

Yours is not 'love crucified, arose'

Your's is 'anger all the way'/'i won thru anger'...

that's not the way of the cross...

Hey did I tell you about, ...uh...... "Sorry, Inappropriate Dinner conversation..."

My 10 yr old Daughter at the Dinner table.....

I see how it definately could come across as that. However I feel that eventhough Armageddon has not fully struck, it does begin from within, as darkness would try to strip you away from God.

We 'conquer', and we 'overcome' evil in this internal war. Both statements are used within the bible and it's scriptures. One being: Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:17–21). Hence the fist to the sky. The fist was not meant as a weapon to strike, but a reach to God and the confession. God is peace and love, YES. But he also asks his children - When the time comes, will you die for me as my son died for you? The ultimate sacrifice, to give yourself for HIM. Let us make no mistake about it. Darkness WILL strike, and when that time comes - God will unleash his Angels; The divine military, so to speak. It is not for us as followers to decide when vengeance should arrive, but it is up to God himself to decide. I am prepared to march at his word.

"I will, Jah. And for you, I would stare the very essence of evil in the face."

I have done so in my life, and I will continue to do so every time he steps into my path with God. My weapons are not my fists, but rather, my faith in the Lord. My preservation is Lucifer's frustration... as again, you see from the protesting 'screams'. No bloodshed, just a crumbling of his grip on my soul.

Hard to explain, but I tried... ;)

One of my favorites

"I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death."

"It matters not where you stand but which way your are moving"

And My Favorite:

"For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"

Jesus Christ in Matthew 16:25-26

I think I understand...it's not you per se, but what you say is a way of thinking about God, us, life that I believe is from now on going to hold Christians back :(

It's quite prevalent in Christendom :(

How can I say it...IT'S NOT LOVE

Anger is NOT love.

God is love.

I think it's a Satanic deception, a wrong understanding of Christianity/God, when we let anger empower us to victory

Jesus surrendered, died...that's how he 'won' - through love, not through a clenched fist...[/i]

Am I making any sense to you Revenant?

(Lots of other people already think I talk garbage/nonsense anyway ;))

Helen

Perfect sense!

And to enter the house of the Lord, what would one be required to relinquish? Hatred. Christianity is indeed about love, and forgiveness. To those who SEEK it.

Perhaps it was confusing, because it is a two part story, but I see where you are coming from. Midway through, is where God is accepted into the life. The entire first half is spoken from the eyes without embracing Christianity. Anger. Yes. From then, it is the will of the mortal to shut evil out, and live only for Jah.

If you notice, after the fist is raised to the sky, there is no mention of blood, nor violence. The wounds are never again mentioned, as they are healed with the inner peace that God provides. Lucifer will continue to scream, and protest... and pull at the soul in order to drag them back down.

However, once the fire of hate is extinguished and "frozen", contempt and fury also diminish within the spirit... which, in turn, leaves us with what? Love.

-

One thing God will never ask us, is to surrender to evil and forsake him. I would die for my God, just as Jesus did... make no mistake about it.

Are you sure that's Lucifer rather than your own unresolved emotional turmoil over your ex-girlfriend?

It does matter because you can't deny yourself, if it's your own emotions rather than 'Lucifer' that are screaming for attention...

Whoa. Can we NOT go there? I had plenty of problems before her, as well...

Revenant, there's nothing you need to tell ME but if this is how you feel then it seems like you need to address it...in an appropriate way.

If you want to be well you will probably have to resolve it, Rev...you can't pray it away or rebuke it away if it's a part of you.

I didn't bring it up to offend you or to score points...only to urge you not to try to push it aside and not deal with it...no offense...

That's one of my all-time favorites, too! Also:

"Serves me right, putting all my eggs in one bastard."
--Dorothy Parker after her illegal abortion. (I love her!)

"Work is love made visible."
--Kahlil Gibran

From the cynics, we have:

"There are two times in life where you get 'pronounced' anything. One is 'husband and wife.' The other is 'dead on arrival.'"
--Dennis Miller

"Men are as loyal as their options. You show me a man who doesn't cheat and I'll show you a man who can't get laid anywhere else."
--Bill Maher (ouch!)

Now, of course we have to have one from Dave Barry:

"If a woman has to choose between catching a fly ball and saving an infant's life, she will choose to save the infant's life without even considering if there are men on base."

One that I think is perfect for this board on account of the diametric ideologies we have:

"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains. "
- Winston Churchill

Then there's always:

"Do or do not. There is no 'try.'"
--Yoda (and Silent Bob!)

And,

"A pint of sweat saves a gallon of blood."
--Patton (he was talking about the battlefield, but life is a battlefield, yes?)

One more--an original from my best friend, she likes to tell me:

"Always suck the creme from the Twinkie of life!!"

I can't believe you quoted Bill Maher on that. That is sick and very untrue. NOT ALL MEN ARE PIGS. NOT ALL MEN ARE STUPID...SOME ARE BACHELORS.

"Finally I came to regard a sacred the disorder of my mind." Arthur Rimbaud

"Creation is a more excellent act than illumination." Marsilio Ficino.

"In relation to the simplified reality that is a limit for mankind as a whole, eroticism is a ghastly maze where the lost ones must tremble. This is the only way to come close to the truth of eroticism: to tremble."
-- Georges Bataille

Oscar Wilde: "The supreme vice is shallowness." Also: "....as the gods are strange, and punish us for what is good and humane in us as much as for what is evil and perverse, I must accept that one is punished for the good as well as for the evil that one does."

To ask oneself before another: by what means does he calm within himself the desire to be everything? Sacrifice, conformity, trickery, poetry, morality, snobbery, heroism, religion, revolt, vanity, money? or by several means together? or all together? A wink of an eye in which glimmers a deceitfulness, a melancholy smile, a grimace of fatigue together betray the disguised suffering which the astonishment at not being everything, at even having concise limits, gives us." --Georges Bataille

"The meaning of eroticism escapes anyone who cannot see its religious meaning. Reciprocally, the meaning of religion in its totality escapes anyone who disregards the link it has with eroticism....Dionysos is the god of the feast, the god of religious transgression. Dionysos is seen most often as the god of the vine and of drunkenness. Dionysos is a drunken god, the god whose divine essence is madness. But, to begin with, madness is itself of divine essence. Divine, which is to say, it denies the law of reason..." Bataille again

Rilke: "Who, if I cried out, would hear me among the angels'
hiearchies? And even if one of them pressed me
suddenly against his heart: I would be consumed
in that overwhelming existence. For beauty is nothing
but the beginning of terror, which we still are just able to endure,
and we are so awed because it serenely disdains
to annihilate us. Every angel is terrifying…"

"The psyche's reality is lived in the death of the literal."
Gaston Bachelard
