Not all but a few probably did at some point in time. You can not say that a REASONABLE and SANE person in situation a would not act in an INSANE fashion in situation b.

I know for myself if someone were to kill my wife and kids I WOULD DO EVERYTHING IT TOOK TO END THEIR LIFE and the lives of everyone they ever even liked. I know I would. It's just the way I am.
after you read your quote again and look at the bold typed letters, i would like a better answer

Why would a country INVADE us to HELP us?

Don't be so closed in you point of view. The muslims would love to help you face the wonders of allah. In other words, if you're different from group B, group B will always think they are "helping" you by forcing you to become more like them.

Then again, I've always said any religion created by man is the purest evil.

I've been in the Army and Army National Guard for 11 years. I've already completed one tour in Iraq and I'm probably going back in the spring. Believe me when I say that Rules of Engagement and the Law of Land Warfare training were pretty intense and extensive. They are taken extremely serious by all the soldiers I was with and the reason being that we all knew that if we fucked it up it was our ass!
My biggest concern was identifying combatants from noncombatants and when is it appropriate to use deadly force. My biggest fear, aside from not protecting my buddies, even more than being killed or injured myself, was that I might kill an innocent. Especially a child. Anyways, my company commander and the battalion JAG officer were so tired of my shit, but I knew I had to get my mind right or I would for sure hesitate.

Anyways, the most basic of all the things we are taught is that if you feel threatened of bodily harm, then use of deadly force is authorized. The standard is would a rational person under similar circumstances feel the same?

If that Marine felt threatened of bodily harm for himself or his comrades , and his experiences made that feeling of threat rational, then he was justified and this whole thing should be put to rest.

I feel it was justified and that Marine needs to be sent back to his unit with his buddies.

Only Veterans and actual soldiers shoul continue with this thread. It's easy to talk too much bullshit when you are seated in front of a computer, with air conditioning or whatever. The reallity is different over there for a 20-22 year old soldier. Like Tom Hanks said after filming Saving Private Ryan "It's easy to imagine how it was and how they did it but it's impossible to imagine how the feel in that moment"

exactly, these guys spouting out their bs on here have NEVER been in the situation that you guys are in day in and day out, they sit back in the comfort of their ez chairs and play arm chair quarterback, they have never been shot at, they havent ever had the threat of car bombs blowing them up, they have never had to deal with the death of one of their own by the hands of the enemy, i cant even imagine the stress you guys go through over there every day, look even i dont agree with why we went to war over there but how dare anyone judge this man who signed up to fight for my and everyone elses freedom, this man risks his life day in and day out over there for the united states and yet these jackasses are ready to hang him by his nuts for killing an enemy that was trying to kill him, this was not some poor innocent kid that the soldier shot this was a guy that was trying to kill one of our own, i know for a fact if i was in a room with someone that had tried to kill me or one of my own, wounded or not, im gonna cap that bastard right between his eyes, no way in hell im taking any chance of him getting another chance to kill me, this is war people like it or not support your troops and what they are doing over there
