Well after being off of the Atkins diet for 2 weeks, I'm goin back on it. Not gonna change my workout routine at all except to add Cardio every other day of the week for 20 minutes. I'm gonna try to see my abs this time around. Here we go!

p.s. not posted in diet forum because they arent as jolly and helpful over there :D

i definatly need carbs to function and grow. I can not imagine not being able to have milk and cottage cheese !!!

I hear ya. My strength will go down the crapper if I cut back my carbs alot. But at the same rate I dont have that "coveted" six pack. Damn I wish I could have my cake and eat it too! (literally and figuratively) :D

I crave a huge chest, back, shoulders and legs much more than I do a 6pack, no matter how popular they are with the ladies.

The thing is, I'm not doing it for the ladies. I'm doing it because I have been overweight my whole life and want to be happy with what I see when I look in the mirror. It's all for me.

And I love carbs too, that's why this diet is so damn hard.

thx, i went on it before for like a month and a half or 2 months and it worked great. im just stoked on gettin a 6 pack.

You don't need to cut them out completely. Stick to something like 12 x BW in cals, with 40p/30c/30f. Keep your carbs and fats in separate meals ("Massive Eating" by John Berardi), which is quite easy to do. Eat your carb meals around workout time. Carb timing is very important.

I would do that Zander, but I've gotten awesome results in the past from this diet, and it works quickly. Once I get down to a decent bf and I can actually see my abs, I'll switch to a more balanced diet like the on you mentioned.

For me, not eating carbs is the biggest test of my discipline possible (alongside doing cardio!!!). If you look into it and get the know-how, then maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Nevertheless, good luck to you. At the end of the day, everything can work. Do what works for YOU.

actually i decided to go for the split routine. im thinkin 50protein/30carb/20fat, i just gotta write out what ill eat daily.

would i do bodyweight x 10 or 12?

Lee, I opted to just be supportive, but since you're open to suggestions, Atkins is crap. ;)

Was that a humble opinion? :lmao:

Fat burns in a carb flame. Remember that.

Go check out Wolfie's thread . I outlined what I do there.

one thing that will help you is to learn what kind of carbs are o.k. when dieting, for example: brown rice, whole wheat pasta and whole wheat bread, yams, oatmeal, fiborous carbs like veggies, non refined sugars like fruit. The truth is that it is very easy to get lean without the no carb b.s. diets that are so hard to stick with. Use a split like the 40/30/30 or even 50/30/20 and just make sure that 30% are "good" carbs. Also I highly recommend the massive eating diet by john berardi, and if you are intersted I have turned it into a "worksheet for dummies" so I can understand it, pm me for a copy

yeah, I jumped on the bandwagon too and it worked great. Except for the part where I got really dizzy and lightheaded and didn't have energy to do shit...um, nevermind.:(

one reason i stopped the atkins for a balanced diet so soon (2 days) is cuz in those 2 days i noticed a drop in my strength. my dumbell press went from 80x8 for 3 sets to 75x7 for 3 sets. it was horrible. i could barely do my skull crusher routine and my preacher curl was lacking. i decided i really do need carbs to keep up with my lifts.
