or how they get offensive when a guy doesn't want a woman with kids?

lolerz

i really never noticed women wanting praise for having a kid.

but i also totally understand a guy not wanting a woman with kids. Other than my own, i don't really like kids.

or a women not wanting a man with kids.
My guy has kids and I never wanted kids. It's very difficult to adjust to it since like you, I have trouble with kids that are not my niece or nephew.
I'm working on it though.

I can see why parents want kudos though, it's a tough job. From the labour to the upbringing etc...I am a pretty strong lady but could never have the strength to have my own kids.
Good parents should blow their own horn, since there are so many shitty parents on this planet.

the whole term "good parent" is wack and misleading
just because you raise a child does not make you good or special, it is the least you can possibly do, it's your fucking kid.
it's like claiming I'm a good dog owner, i feed my dog everyday!!@#yaya!#!@#!

I believe that Sidney Pottier addressed this issue best in the old black and white "Look Who's Coming to Dinner". He quite respectfully went off on his father (a retired mail man) because his father felt slighted when his son (who became a doctor due in part to the sacrifices that he and Sidney's mother made in order for their son to have a better life) decided to marry a white woman. Sidney passionately told his father, "I owe you NOTHING because you were only doing what you were SUPPOSED to do, but YOU OWE ME EVERYTHING!"

To this day I get chills when I think of that speech. It was a turning point for me, personally as I had always been raised to believe the opposite, that a child OWES their parents respect just because they were born. Children do not ask to be born, but are brought here for the selfishness of the parent(s).

It is because of this that I strive EVERY SINGLE DAY to EARN my children's love, trust and respect with my every thought and deed.

Having said that, I find it even funnier when a man feels that they should somehow get gold stars on their foreheads every time they change a diaper or pick their kid up from school as if they did something above and beyond...

Anyone who decides to become a parent OWES THEIR KID(S). period

lol..true, but lol :lmao:

maybe its because they see so many misbehaved children around and they are just proud that theirs are not like that....I dunno.......but then, eveveryone that has a child thinks they are good parents, even though it may not look like that in other peoples eyes

Okay question...

for the parents..

When people come up to you random people and compliment your kids dont you feel a sense of pride?

when i was growing up random ppl in the neighbourhood would compliment my parents im sure it made them feel great.

I guess my Southern upbringing taught me different values than some of the other parts of the US. We were taught to HONOR THY FATHER AND MOTHER. We were taught to respect our elders. You do owe your mother and father respect. They put aside their personal needs and wants out of love for you. They deserve respect for that. You don't let your mom and dad go to a nursing home; you don't let them spend holidays alone; you don't curse at them; and you act in a way to make them proud. Yes, they deserve it and more.

well, of course, there is no doubt about it. The weird thing is that when a parent, random parent, compliments your child...you feel obligated to compliment back at his/her child too

When, I lived with my ex-bf, I put MTV on parental block. Those shows like Next, Sweet 16, etc are TERRIBLE! I can't believe parents let their 11 year olds watch that CRAP. Yeah, his kids hated me because I was the first person in their lives to care enough to every say no to them.

i have to say something on this...if your southern upbringing was so special and better than those elsewhere, how come you are having a child w/ no dad? that doesn't sound like the southern morals and traditions that you speak of

I feel something stronger than pride, for me it is humbling that I could have been so fortunate to be blessed with a child that is bringing happiness and something positive into the world.

You see, the way I look at it the child is a gift given you so that YOU can learn and grow from the difficulties of parenting. Ultimately that child will grow up and make their own decisions. They will be responsible for themselves. A parent can only try their best. If a parent is effective than BOTH the child and parent will benefit. I know for a FACT that my children have given me and taught me far more than I never even realized that I didn't know. In this regard I am very lucky and feel myself humbled and gratefull.

I was once complimented all the time and now it kills me that I know it is no longer true, or that is only comes in very small doses as my children have NO ONE to guide them so they are making very bad choices for themselves. It breaks my heart not because of my suffering. It was MY CHOICE to become a parent and I dont NEED to be complimented. It kills me because I KNOW that my girls are suffering and miserable.

One of the greatest life lessons = LIFE HAPPENS.

We are not defined by our circumstances alone, but rather, by how WE CHOOSE to react to them.

How many children are brought into this world via the old *oops*? Does that make them any less human? I believe that whether that child is an *accident* or a *surprize* is strictly up to the parent(s).

My little sister wasn't planned on or even wanted and my parents were waaaaaaay married. So now, do you think that it was right how SHE was raised?.... I spent nearly 20 years of my life trying to make up to my sister how cruelly we treated her because of my parents' cues... ironically it was my little sister that has had my back (to her own detriment) since I kicked my abusive ass ex to the curb. I would be DEAD - no questions asked - and my children would NEVER have a shot at life if my mother had been successfull in her attempts to abort her.

..... so you were saying?

I owe my life and my children owe their lives and everyone whose life I have touched owe it to my sister.... "the mistake".

SHE is my greatest gift.

Self-respect above all....

What about children? Why is it that NO ONE ever mentions that adults should respect children?

Darlin - I hear you. But as I said - life happens. One day you will become a parent if you are lucky enough and/or have desire too and you will see very quickly how FALLIBLE you are. Now go ahead and tell your 11 year old that you NEVER smoked pot or had premarital sex. It might fly when they are 5 or even 11 but you know damned well that shit will not fly when they are 14 and above. So how do YOU handle it then?

Rememeber what I told you about our circumstances and character.

Ms Pregorae isn't the first woman who became pregnant out of wedlock and she certainly won't be the last. I have yet to hear her crow about how her current circumstance was her FIRST CHOICE.

How bout this - we all have life happen. What separates the wheat from the chaff is how we react in the course of those happenstances.

i agree and i'm not knocking single moms or out of wedlock sechs
and i'm gonna have a hard time about the pot thing with my kidddos, fug i'm a high-on
the whole christian morals and traditions i really don't care about, but if you are gonna preach it you should live it, or else change your morality and beliefs

So then in keeping with your arguement what should a woman in Ms Pregorae's situation have done that would have been more in alignment with Southern morals?

BM, I'll say this, while your "life happens, we need to deal with it" is a great while to look at things, it doesn't take into consideration that a LOT of those "life" issues don't just "happen" - they are direct results of one's actions, mindset, and lack of both.

I know, responsibility sucks. So let's just blame some cosmic force called "life".

not had sexytime before marriage, in keeping with morals and tradition of southern conservatism

Darlin I am not removing personal responsibility from the equation AT ALL. What I am saying is to focus strictly on blaming the end result is not helpfull to anyone. Yes, precautions can be taken so as to avoid an unplanned and potentially unwanted pregnancy. What if the birth control failed? Then what? The only 100% reliable method of birthcontrol is abstinence. How many do you know live a chaste life but for marriage?

Come on.... get real.

And even if there was no birthcontrol used how is it helpfull to anyone in the circumstance at the moment to ride their ass and make them feel like they are somehow less than human?

EVERYBODY MAKES MISTAKES and EVERYBODY has shit happen to them that there is NO WAY they could have prevented but to have not gotten out of bed that day.

The only people that I know who never make mistakes are those that dont do a goddamned thing in life.

.... just sayin.

Why do bros want props for banging hotties? I imagine it's a lot easier than giving birth.

Realistically, girls should be given props for raising their kids well. Men should be given props for being good fathers. Seeking props for anything less.....where are you Darwin...

Agreed.

A few years back my ex wanted to hire a nanny for the time that my girls would be with him. I demanded the right to interview the candidates. There were two. A very pretty young girl that was 20/21 and an older woman who was herself a mother. She was also Georgian.

I asked them same question and determined who I would want to watch my children based on their answer.

I said to both, "My girls are VERY angry at not being able to be with me so regardless of how I have raised them to behave chances are they will be VERY naughty for you. It isn't personal. I want you to know that they will most likely be this way regardless of who YOU are. (I then told them the stories that they told me of how they behaved for the other nanny that my ex had for them.) Now there are FOUR children so it makes things even harder. What are you going to do if and when any number of my children begin to act out?"

The young girl's fake ditzy smile IMMEDIATELY ran off her face and she fell silent.

The older woman replied without missing a beat, "Why should the children act disrespectfully towards me if I am respectfull towards them?"

I will give the board 3 guesses as to who my ex hired and the first two don't count.

Because I took him to be a man with ethics. I can't control what he does. he turned out to be more of a man like you, I guess -- no moral compass and thinks he's all that and knows everything.

I didn't claim to be better than anyone else. I'm saying that in the south we have a "yes sir" and "yes ma'am" upbringing.

Your disdain for mothers speaks more about your character than mine.

Yeah, a really low blow to take a jab at someone because their dumb ex-bf is a deadbeat dad. I didn't ever take gambino to be that low. You would think I had said something nasty to someone. All I said was that in the south, we have a strict upbringing about how you act with our parents.

I'm gonna brush my shoulder off, though, from the haters. I know I made the right choice and will be a good mommy. I can't control what the daddy does.

if we are such young turds, why do you post pics trying to impress us???

Since I have been in Texas I have to say (and this is the general consensus amongst ALL of the former northerners that I have met here) that MOST in the south is polite, well-mannered, respectfull and for the most part very pleasant, something that you do not see prevalent (if present at all) on the east coast or in the northeast.

I believe that this is THE ONLY THING that Ms PregoRae was speaking to. I didn't hear her preaching morals (insofar as premarital sex or bloodtransfusions or whether or not one can drink alcohol - ALL present in SOMEBODY's religion). So to ATTACK her morality based on her speaking of being brought up with respect is IMHO not a proper arguement.

Leave it be, Bino. HR and Blue are two of the most negative, hateful people on this site. It's sad actually. That's why some of us love being around the younger, happier womins who still have hopes and dreams. And really tight little bodies.

meh, you made a claim and i refuted it.
i questioned your alleged southern morals and ethics
remember you made that claim not i
What claim did I make? The only thing that I said was that I would not put my parents in a nursing home, curse at them, let them spend holidays alone, etc. I stated my opinion that parents deserve respect. I already proved my ethics in that regard when I took my mom home with me when she was sick and dying. I don't have to prove it to you. I proved it to HER. So what claim prompted you to insult me for being a single mom?

It really doesn't matter. You showed your true colors.

you could've pm'ed him the pic if it was only him you wanted to see it
admit it, you seek validation from some of us here

Oh come on...

How is Blue or Ms PregoRae or any other woman posting a pic of herself any different than any MAN who posts up his pic?

I mean, what is wrong with it?

I dont see you saying the same things to Woot or JH1 or Swole or P
Ddaddy for example...

If you did/do, my bad, I didn't read it is all.

if we are such young turds, why do you post pics trying to impress us???
you and kb have posted pictures of yourselves.

I know what both of you look like.

It never even occured to me to accuse you two of doing it to try to impress us "old women." I'm not so stuck on myself to assume that everything you do has something to do with me or impressing anyone.

Dood you implied that she was a *hypocrite* for not living the values that she CLAIMED she supported. You were the one that put the words into her mouth and then lambasted her for it. She was NOT claiming moral superiority over anyone but you felt the need to take a cheap shot at her for being in a situation that she stated time and time again was not HER FIRST CHOICE for a family.

Sometimes I swear that you young guys have no feelings at all.

Seriously, why are some of you so consistently incapable of understanding how your words to another might inflict pain? Why would that be your aim?

I know that men and women are socialized differently. I watched young guys IRL say the most hurtfull shit towards one another (they were close friends, go figure  ) and then act as if they weren't hurt by it when ANYONE with half a brain can see that it DID hurt, but they both continued to do it anyway?

Just take a deep breath and think for a moment before you hit that send button. Think about how YOUR WORDS *might* affect another.

That isnt necessarily true all the time. We are human beings communicating in an inhuman way. Posting pics of ourselves and our daily lives makes it more *human* and doesn't necessarily mean that the poster is always seeking attention and/or validation from everyone.

Some of you obviously were not spanked enough as children.

I have NEVER wantonly attacked another.... EVER.

I DO take my own advice. When I come out with harsh shit towards someone it is because they went their first. Right, wrong or indifferent I am human and not made of wood. Slam me often enough and eventually I will hit back.

NO ONE on elite (or on the whole damned web for that matter) has been trashed WANTONLY the way that I have.

i want a son so i can feed him hgh from birth than ride his coat tails through the major leagues when he's pulling all that punani.

haha :)

but on the real you take care of your kids when they are kids.. then your kids take care of you when you are an elder..

also dont really know why someone wouldn't want a minime running around.. and wouldn't want something to love unconditonally..

what do all you people who dont want kids love besides yourselves?

I always thought you were cool. I've never said a bad thing to you or about you. My post wasn't dissing anyone's morals. I've never gone on any rants about premarital sex, alcohol, drugs, gay sex, or ANYTHING that I recall. I'm a pretty liberal person, remember. I'm anti-drug for reasons other than moral ones. That is about it. I don't know why you felt the need to launch an assault on an area of my life that at this point is beyond my control.

As far as me being hateful, KB, from the time I came to ef you talked to me like I was dirt. Any woman who is over 30, you treat disrespectfully. I think you act awfully young to be 27. When I was 27, I don't recall thinking 30 was so foreign. You amuse me, though. I try to impress upon you that you come off sounding a bit naive in that you look down on everyone and think you have everything figured out at such a green age. You will understand it more one of these days and will laugh at it yourself.

Your children will cut you deeper than another human being every could.

Trust me on that one...

I have to say I have never seen so much man hating from a girl in all my life.its so bad I cant believe hr is not a dike.its not just against kb or bino ether you can see it in like 99% of all her post when she is e-fighting with some one that is a man...she uses being a mother and a gilr as a defense and the fact that the man is a man as a weapon.its like she holds a vagina shield and fights with a pork sword in ever fight.

:lmao: True!

It's okay, BM. Thanks, though. You get that I wasn't insulting anyone.

I was a bit shocked at gambino's reply. I always dug Bino. That was a weird response.

I have to go get my butt swabbed now, so I will duck out of the converation.

Carry on!
