WHO do you think should be TIME'S MAN OF THE YEAR.

As for the attitude of us "outed gay men" toward women, that would take about 10,000 words. But I will mention another sex/gender conflict -- that between good homos and bad homos.
I never heard of this one, good homos and bad homos. Can you enlighten me?

io think he means that some people see gays who conform to the 'standard stereotypical flamboyant priscilla-queen-of-the-desert gay image' are seen as bad gays by many

but those that are aren't are seen as good gays.

always puzzled me that one.......i still dont undertsand the reasoning behind that, seems stupid really

Exactly, but it's not just a heterosexual perspective. It's also a perspective within the gay community itself. It has largely to do with the normalization of desire for reasons of political and social expediency.

It's been my experience that the good gay/bad gay perspective is flip-flopped between heterosexual and homosexual communities (such as they are). Meaning straight people see good/bad gays as danielson describes. Whereas gay people tend to see conservative, less stereotypical other gays as "sellouts to the cause", or "bad gays."

RyanH. Your are a fucking asshole. You nominate some commie and give bullshit reasons not for Bush. So if that faggot gore was president, you would nominate him. Your moderator status should be revoked because you are stupid.

HAPPY to know you like me.

All my love,
Ryan.

That's certainly not true in my experience. Gay media are dominated by conservatives now and the "agenda" of the last 10 years has been military service and marriage. Effeminate men are widely reviled in the gay community and hypermasculinity is the standard.

Which is just as annoying...look around Atlanta and you'll find plenty effeminate gay men driving jeeps they've never taken offroad or walking dogs bigger than they are. Effeminate men, in some sense, are less bothesome than the fakeness stemming from gay men attempting to be butch.

Uh huh. I saw two guys with high-and-tight haircuts , jacked in muscle shirts, in a big black pickup truck this afternoon. When they pulled up beside me I looked over and was greeted by a little fluffy white Pomeranian standing on the lap of the driver. I nearly fell out of my, um, jeep, laughing.

So then would it be a misconception that effeminate men make up a larger percentage of the gay community? Or are they just more visible?

Hypermasculinity is the standard in the gay community? Must be a relative term. My trips to "the bars" suggest something much different. Granted, that's no way to judge an entire community. However, you can't very well say that it's only the exceptions to the rule that find their way out to the clubs every weekend.

:D

Come on Brains, surely you've taken that jeep offroad a couple of times, please tell me you have, so my on-line impression of you can stand. I had a 4Runner & used it for mountainbiking, but I'm sure other fags saw me, and said, "there she is trying to look butch." But, that wasn't the case at all.
