doing push and pull back to back days?

Was talking to some guys at the gym and a lot of guys say it’s not good to do your pushing and you’re pulling splits and back-to-back days. They say that I should either take a day off or I should do cardio or do legs.
How many of you out there will run a split like this back to back or do you think I should not do that?
 
Take a day off in between, but do some cardio or do some stretching
 
Usually professional bodybuilders will be able to pull it off, but if you're an amateur, you might not want to risk it.
 
If I was you I would do cardio in between or do some light legs. You don't want to over train your upper body.
