Not so ubiquitous on this board! I expressed the criticism and RyanH became sarcasto-man and said I was suggesting FDR shoulda bombed the Japs earlier than he did. Which I wasn't, and my response about Elie Wiesel explained that with dignity, but anyway.

There was actually something interesting posted on Frackal's conspiracy/Afghanistan thread.

Everyone was rushing to commend Frackal on another excellent post. And then someone (not me, cause I never really read this woman's posts) said: "You know what? Strongchick said the same thing and it was like flame-a-palooza. She got slammed."

But I DO think women here saying stuff other than just offering themselves up sexually are either ignored or considered annoying by guys who wish they'd "get with the program."

It's not just a sex thing, because even the outed gay men do it--respond condescendingly, dismiss what is said.

Now the responses will be: "No, we condescend b/c you're dumb...." And so on..... Doesn't phase me.

I can easily visualize Frackal being commended for saying what strongchick got flamed for.

I have worked with co-workers that were predominantly female and I got treated poorly to a point. Works both ways I think. Why???....very good question.

That's cool, but may I meekly suggest that you engaged in a similar leap when you read my characterizing FDR in a particular context as a general statement about his value.

Oh yeahhhhhhh. Strongchick was making all the points gympoppa is making now, too, and he's not getting called names and provoking a campaign to get him banned from Elite. I grant that timing is an issue here, but sexism is definitely at play. Recall, too, the sudden "shift" in posting about Strongchick when she uploaded her picture. Suddenly the Dragon Lady was a hot chick in a good many eyes.

As for the attitude of us "outed gay men" toward women, that would take about 10,000 words. But I will mention another sex/gender conflict -- that between good homos and bad homos.
