Well the funding mechanism should be similar to a property tax method used to fund public schools.

I do agree with your basic premise though that money should not be a deciding factor in wether or not someone has access to socalled higher education.

Has ANYONE been in california yet? Lived in LA? Whites are the MINORITy here. How the hell can whites still be discriminated against, while blacks, asians, hispanics, etc. -- keep getting free money. That's bullshit.

I'm glad that scholarship is out, and hoepfully we'll start seeing white magazines, white awards shows, white leaders, etc. It's only fair. Hispanic this, Asian-American that, Black mistreatment, blah blah blah...

Now the 40% and growing of the US, will now see from the "other" side just how stupid it looks.

It's hard to be against affirmative action, when the government keeps handing you money.

I think the scholarships should go to whom ever is more qualified. It is only fare, he who tries the hardest should be rewarded regardless of race.

I don't agree with affirmative action. I think that a minority should be just as qualified as anyone else if they are going to get a job. It should be based on skills, not race.

race related scholarships are wrong, but so is the whole legacy system as well. abolish both and you have a even playing field for all races.

race related programs are going on at public schools, legacy is not.

legacy is used at private schools only, whicvh, as private schools, can do basicallly whatever they please.

In answer to the thread, I think the guy made a good point. Instead of race-based scholarships maybe they should be need-based (economic).

i live in long beach. if you add up the "minorities" ie: asians, hispanics, blacks -- they outnumber the whites big time.

As long as you're still the largest SINGLE group, calling whites a minority is a stretch of epic proportions.
