I do agree with your basic premise though that money should not be a deciding factor in wether or not someone has access to socalled higher education.

Is this scholarship not privately donated? If this is true, then I have no care how it is distributed, since it is done by the free action of those who established it. If black organizations do this, they have every right to do so. The only issue I have is public funds and regulatory measures used for such select purposes.

Wouldn't this mean more scholarships in areas that are well-to-do and less in poor areas? That seems at odds with your next statement that money should not be a deciding factor.

Lol well I'm kind of with ABL on this one. I think that (presumably) kids should have 'free' from k-12 but after that you have to find your own way though things.

FYI for people arguing for Free college should look at the many problems in Europe. England's having trouble and even Germany is starting to have a few private schools.

Are you of the mindset that minorities shouldn't get "special treatment"? It seems many of the "successful" people that are minority are of that mindset....basically, that by getting special treatment, they are adding to "keeping their race down or below" the white race...

I am a white male and I know I have it good, probably too good. I'd hate for myself to be offered a scholarship because of my race when a person in another race with a better GPA/SAT score, would not...so, I am not for any kind of race-related benefit, but, who's to say I would not feel this way if I were african-american, hispanic, native-american, or other...to be honest, I'm not sure I'd feel the same way, probably depend on my upbringing and other factors.

When i fill out my FAFSA forms for the 04/05 school year, i'm checking "Other" for race and i'm writing in "Green and Purple." that should help out.
