FYI for people arguing for Free college should look at the many problems in Europe. England's having trouble and even Germany is starting to have a few private schools.

In my view earning your way into college is a great character builder. Perhaps rather than dolling out free money to ANYONE, we should be pushing for more service work out of these students.

I pay for my own school. I am a "minority" and I recieve nothing for it. The only grants I've ever gotten was one from my church (GO METHODISTS!) and two from the Advertising Association for my portfoilo of work. Other than that, it's cash and loans.

legacy is used at private schools only, whicvh, as private schools, can do basicallly whatever they please.

Private schools SHOULD do whatever they please. I like that. Private clubs too. You dont like blacks? jews? women? whites? democrats? homosexuals? then dont let them in.

Oh, small detail. IF you take advantage of a single tax break, public service or benefit in any way from ANY public tax dollars or government assisitance of any kind, then excluding ANYONE is NOT ok.

Nice twist, but clarify a few things for me:

Do you equate the idea of only sight impaired people going to a School for the Blind, with a Publicly funded after school program that doesn't allow black kids to enter because they are black?

Do you think that battered women's shelters fall into the same jurisdiction as exclusionist religious based clubs that receive public funds?

Explain why you list 'rape crisis' centers? Did you know that rape crisis centers are on call for men as well? They also assist the whole family when a rape has occured?

For what possible reason did you lump Boys/Girls Clubs of America into that list (they are part of the same organization, by the way)? That they exclude people based on age? The Boy/Girl scouts fall under a combined governing body as well. How do they exclude anyone?

I think sometimes you post things like that quoted above just to be argumentative. Could you maybe answer my questions above, I would like to know why you listed the oragizations you chose.

I will say it again: you can have any kind of closed club/organization you like, just not with my money.

I actually think there are select handful of members here that continue to post responses simply for the sake of argument; not caring whether or not they are making a clear point.

Why should ONE balck student, pay his way for college. Earn his way through high SAT scores. While another black student, gets PAID to go to college, enters witha LOWER sat score and is given the red carpet treatment.

Both grew up and lived in the same neighbourhood. One busted his ASS to get the marks. The other dealed drugs, stole cars, and partied and lived the life.

So what are we saying. Do the right thing, work your ass off -- and get rewarded by getting nothing. Don't do the right thing -- and the government will reward you.

Fucked up I tell ya. One reason I left Canada. I got SICK of stupid illegal somalians and immigrants coming to canada, and immediately getting free educationa nd other bullshit. WTF? Not in all your cases. A tax "break" is not by definition receiving the "public" tax dollars, is it? If I receive a "break" on my taxes, am I receiving the "public's" assistance? Only if you are a socialist do you belief this tripe.

If the organization receives money that it did not generate through its own efforts or receives a service that it does not pay for through normal taxation, then yes, we agree.
