Which are you worse at Deadlift, Squat, or Bench?

Hello All,

Its rare you find a guy who excels at all 3 PL events. I find that my long ares and relatively narrow shoulders make my bench poor, but it has the opposite effect on the squat and especially the deadlift where my average length legs give me a great squat and I can match anyone Pound for Pound on the deadlift.

Which one are you finding that you are least good at?

lol, seriously though. I have long arms and a long torso, so im a pretty descent deadlifter and squatter. My bench is still decent though, id say im pretty well rounded actually. my first meet was a push/pull in june, i entered 181 juniors and pulled 570 and benched 420. Im doing my first full power meet on the 11th. My best squat in the gym was 585 with wraps and a belt, to about 2 inches above parallel my partner and other witnesses said.

My deadlift is lagging and needs alot of work since i stopped for three months, im struggling with 500 now and its terrible. if i can get back up to where i was, maybe a little higher id be happy. id like to squat 650ish, keeping my deadlift in the high 5's low 6's and bench is fine compared to other juniors my size. My goal by next June is to win the USAPL Junior Nationals, so if i can go 650/440/600 that would be a 1690 total and give me a great chance to win.

my bench in meets has been disappointing, got 345 in gym with denim a year ago but have missed 303 several times in meets, I have a 402 squat--the first number over 400 you can get metrically, I think it is like 402.2, anyway I should pull over 4 next time but now can't really squat that well due to arthritis thing, it is a sad story but I am stronger than I have ever been, not bad for a sub 3 hour marathon runner at about 157lbs, I now weigh 225, 52 yrs old, good lord

Right now I'm sucking at all three ;)

I have a short build with short arms so I was best at the squat when I was squatting, bench is coming around and deadlift, we will see. I feel as strong as I ever have at 6-8 pounds less than normal off season weight which is good. Will see how things go.

I was the classic high-school Bench-obsesser (even though I've always sucked relative to the big boys), so I'm better at that relatively. Actually first time I ever pulled a deadlift I did 405, so I always thought I had a slight knack for it. Nowadays in recent times I've been able to squat 540, bench 410, and DL 550 raw. Actually I didn't do real full squats until after high school, and did a lot more running & bicycling so I think that made my slow-twitch muscles sort of predominate over fast-twitch. But I'd have to say my bench outperforms my sq & dl, relative to everyone else's average numbers.

My bench licks balls. As with some of you I have long arms I'm 6'2" with a 6'5" reach. I have small wrists which doesn't help, and then having torn my left pec insertion doesn't help either.

At least bench doesn't help much with strongman.LOL

Cheers,
Scotsman

670-520-610 I need to bring up my squat, i left a ton on the floor on my dead, and have hit 540 in the gym on my bench. My squat should be OK, i had to be retaught the squat in June, i really didn't squat at all until September, and when i started it was time to start my meet traning which involved me being in my suit quite a bit. I think this time around i should be much better off getting more work before i need to start with equipment. Looking for a 750ish squat in May. Maybe more, would love to break 2000 soon. Should not be much of a problem, i hope, lol.
