When Did the Tetanus Shot Stop Being JUST That?

Husband had a little accident at work yesterday, no catastrophe, but it needed stitches. So he goes to the approved location, and they stitch him up. Then they ask him if he's had a tetanus shot in the past two years and he honestly says, probably not, so they give him one ... then AFTER they give him the shot they tell him it's not just for tetanus but pertussis and (I think) diphtheria. So now I have husband running a fever, whose joints are aching home from work today, when all he did was cut his hand badly enough to need 5 stitches, WTF?

Seriously WTF? When did this shit start? I'm out of the loop.

I dont remember pertussis being in there but I guess thats right....for as long as I can remember diptheria has been in there tho....

I'd look in my military records (last time I had that shot) if they weren't fried/gone

I believe the pertussis is a fairly recent addition.

DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis) shots are part of the childhood immunizations, it's been that way for years. Whooping Cough (pertussis) is on the rise especially in California. The new shots Tbal are boosters for older kids and adults. That's probably what your husband received.

I'm just irked about the fact that they don't mention the other two are in the tetanus, that's all. I don't appreciate the whole being medicated without informing me, a la fluoridated water.

I can't buy pot/steroids legally, but it's okay if a doctor or the government gives me shit I don't want and didn't ask for? WTF.

Although I can't remember where I read it, I did read that there are a few lawyers in prison for perjury and fraud, after they conjured up the autism-vaccine link in a fake study. A team of doctors proved that their method of testing the theory was fraudulent and wrong. There is no link, but once something like that gets worked up into a public panic, it takes forever to go away. And just FYI, I do have high-functioning autism. I have found in life, that trying to find someone or something to blame all of my problems on, is a waste of time, and it would have prevented me from becoming successful otherwise.

As for the original topic: I never saw a Tetanus shot with other vaccines included... Must be new. I haven't had a Tetanus shot in at least 20 years, so I better watch out for rusty nails!
