no 'act of war' was committed. what happened was a terrorist act by a terrorist group. i see that lots of you yanks, freshly brainwashed by bush et al, have trouble separating small groups of citizentry from the remainder of the country.

If a country allows its citizenry to go around committing these acts with a wink and a nod, then the government is complicit in these acts. That Australian girl got a much bigger sentence than the cleric who masterminded the Bali bombing. That says a lot for the courts in Jakarta and the government. No brainwashing about it, you see a scorpion near your camp, you squash it, you don't let it wander about hoping that it won't sting you in your sleep.

who are you to know what the indonesian government is doing? the indonesian government is seperate from their judiciary, just as in any civilized country. the indonesian government has acted appropriately, in my opinion - or do you want me to ignore the fact that there are many bombings throughout indonesia, which it has been actively trying (usuccessfully) to stop, and instead paint the indonesian government as the perpetrator of that crime, even while it tries to find and prosecute them?

i am angry at the indonesian judiciary for being so heavy handed towards schapelle corby, and am annoyed that a legal system exists that seems so prone to injustice, but i think the way to fixing the situation is through diplomacy, not antagonising a nieghboring country and trying to pressure them in such a way as to undermine their soverignity, as you seem to be insunuating.

We really have no proof that she actually did this. Or Her swing may have been her trying to slap the officer's hands away when he was trying to take her phone.

Not absurd at all to believe every time a cop approaches a vehicle while stading on the side of the road in traffic he is in danger.
She failed to comply with a lawful order when he told her to put down the phone. A little patience, courtesy and respect for the badge on her part would have saved her from being tased.
She was breaking the law by speeding and driving on a suspended license and her behavior when stopped was ridiculous.
If she had hit a person or child while breaking the people defending her actions and attacking the officer would probably be questioning why she wasn't taken off the street sooner.
Police are damned either way. In this case he was in right.
