The lady was in no way whatsoever endangering anyone or harming a fly...his use of force by far exceeded the use of force continueum scale...the officer was way out of line and the lady should be justly compensated. That cop should be suspended or even fired!
the lady was out of line , she knew she was goin to jail and thought if she threw a fit she could get out of it , not this time, then she tried to hit the officer that came in the other side of the car ....i woulda tased her ass too
at that point they had to take action before the situation got worse

you gotta remember she brought everything upon herself.....all she had to do was get out the fuckin car

If you read the law it states that it is a crime to willfully refuse to obey a direct and lawful order from a peace officer.

The key word there is lawful!

Also if the officers command was lawful and she disobeyed that command there are other ways to control the situation that are far less dangerous to the citizen other than running fifty thousand volts of electricity through the citizens body...that decision by the officer is absolutely rediculous!

Don't want to start a war, but she had at least 20 seconds to get out of the car. That takes about 2. She was being arrested for driving with a suspended license and was playing games. Maybe he could have taken 10 minutes to talk her out of the car, but he shouldn't have to. Many cops get killed at routine traffic stops because someone reaches to put their phone away and grabs a gun. He may have been a little green, and nervous, but in the right. K to ya.

To all the critics:

Would you be more at ease, if fists, punches and kicks were thrown; noses were broken, bruises were incurred, and all parties involved sustained injuries?

Yeah that's a much better solution.

Everytime i see a taser situation -- i'd love to see the corresponding situation that involved physical force just to show the critics the alternative.

Beautiful......absolutely beautiful. Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?

Kudos to the officers for handling that in a professional manner.

It just grinds me how cops are under the microscope every time they need to do their job.

If every time they need to subdue a person, or god forbid, use lethal force, and they have to go to court for it, what's going to happen?

We'll have officers who WON'T do their job, for fear of punishment, for essentially doing their job. How fucked up is that? Very.

I work with police everyday, and have counted on them numerous times when shit went bad. I like to think that they wouldn't hesitate to do what they have to do should the situation arise.

A Taser is an excellent non-lethal tool the police have that they can use in for their safety, and the safety of the victim involved. I just wish the freakin' public would shut their un-informed cakeholes and think that every situation can be "talked down".

Simple they pulled her over for speeding and then discovered she had an expired/invalid liscense. At that point they were trying to take her into custody as she was breaking the law. Her refusal to step out of the vehicle warranted her removal and it was pretty obvious that they weren't going to be able to talk her out. Their options were, 1.to physically force her out which would probably result in injuries to them and her 2.club her with a baton as mentioned by the training officer again resulting in serious injury 3.hold her at gunpoint and risk having to shoot her.

The tazer is a less lethal option that typically causes no short or long term harm. I immobilizes and hurts like hell yes but every officer that carries one has to have been hit with one in order to be certified. So they know how it feels and therefore have a better understanding of when to use it.

I side with the cops here.. it was a little excessive, but they pulled her over for speeding, she needs to listen to them. Cops are allowed to use non lethal force to restrain someone, she was being uncooperative.
