bran987 said:'Another Taser-less Death'
Last weekend, a 56-hour standoff with a homicide suspect ended without fatality or serious injury when police subdued the suspect with a stun gun. Hovering on a construction crane, the man reached for some water when police struck with a Taser (Nasdaq: TASR).
Taser may not immediately come to mind when you think of making the world a better place. The company has been attacked by the media, Amnesty International, and others who claim that stun guns can be unduly lethal. What these groups fail to recognize is that stunning an individual has a far less chance of ending fatally than shooting him with a bullet.
Data from police forces currently using Tasers confirms this fact. In 2003, The Arizona Republic reported that officer shootings in the Phoenix area dropped nearly 50% in the six months that Tasers were on the job. At the end of 2004, the Cape Coral, Fla., police department reported 83% fewer officer injuries and 40% fewer subject injuries following the widespread adoption of Tasers. Tasers also proved to be safer than batons, dogs, and pepper spray (based on Cape Coral's savings in injury-related costs).
I wrote the above headline to help us go beyond the headlines: "Another Taser-less Death." From now on, I want to see more articles about lives that could have been saved if every police officer in every city had a Taser on his or her belt.
Talk to police who use stun guns. Talk to the people in blue who resolve conflicts on a daily basis and sometimes put their own lives in jeopardy. An overwhelming number of them will tell you that this is the best development in the recent history of law enforcement. But in our litigious society, driven by lust for the lurid headline, Tasers have been given a bad name, while guns continue to take lives every day.
The market has punished Taser recently, but I think the company will be back. Its product is too good for society to ignore.

So the value of law enforcement all revolves around whether YOU get a speeding ticket or not? Maybe they should put that sideline in the next state session.
Ever sat down and wonder WHERE those speeding ticket fines go to? Ever think of who actually pulls the strings there?

I live in DC. I have several close friends who are police officers here. Hell, I keep coffee on at my home 24/7, and the cops that work in the hellhole that I call home know that they can knock on my door anytime to get water, coffee, or any other non-alcoholic beverage they need while on duty. Cops in DC are not paid anywhere near enough for putting their lives on the line day-in, day-out.
One friend of mine was on a traffic stop a few years ago, with his partner (now deceased), when some thug walked up behind his partner and shot him in the back of the head. My friend ended up shooting him fifteen times before he went down. Guy was loaded to the gills on PCP.
Another friend of mine was on a traffic stop just over a year ago. Pulled over a 17 year old female for running a stop sign. When he walked up on the car, she was on the phone. He asked her to put the phone down several times. She finally complied, after about the 5th or 6th order, and came up with a 9mm handgun. He leaned back just as she pulled the trigger, and instead of taking a round in the forehead, she "just" blew his hat off and ended up permanently scarring his forehead due to the powder burns, and partially blinding him in one eye. Long story short, she bailed out of the car after a 20 minute car chase, and was arrested. Turns out, she was supposed to have killed a cop as part of a gang initiation. Her trial will be later this year, and suprisingly enough, the liberal scumbags in this city are actually trying her as an adult. Even more amazingly, the officer in this case was returned to full duty, even with partial blindness, and now rides a desk at headquarters. He has been trying furiously to be put back on the street for 6 months now.
I have about a dozen more stories, from close friends of mine who are police here, detailing being shot or shot at on traffic stops. If any of you liberal cock gobblers would like me to detail them, just PM me. After watching all four vids, I believe that the woman was lucky she didn't get bootstomped, as the police would have done to her here, as the police do not have tasers. She resisted arrest, and the use of force here was entirely justified.
To all of the ĂĽber-liberals, and cop haters here, who are talking out of their collective asses: kindly go fill the shoes of one police officers in my city for a year, and then see if you feel the same way. You wang wranglers believe that the criminals of the world are the victims, and the enforcers of the law are the criminals. Without the thin blue line enforcing the laws of this nation, you would be nothing more than the vassal of some regional warlord, ala the middle east, subject to death at their whim.
And finally, to liberals the world over.....
Kindly insert your wangs into a garbage disposal, and turn on the power. Or, if you are female, catch yourself a case of the clap, long term. The though of you bringing your offspring into the world truely frightens me. As the product of whatever welfare state you live in, you believe that you should not be responsible for your actions. Fuck that. If you break the law, and resist arrest, you should have your ass kicked. Perhaps the next time, you would think twice about breaking the law, or assaulting one of the men or women tasked with enforcing those laws.
The ACLU, and other liberal collectives have defanged and declawed the police here in the US to the extent that violence against police officers here is an epidemic. I believe that a return to the days of "beat and release" is in order, despite the hand-wringing and bitching that liberals here would engage in. Perhaps if violators of the law realized that going to jail was the least of their concern, crime, especially violent crime, would begin to go down in big cities again.

GoldenDelicious said:redguru, i dont really see the point in your post, nor do i think it is accurate. you see, i dont have any woes. a bad day for me goes along the lines of one of the girls i see or people im going ot hang out with not calling back quickly enough to get organised for something fun.
my criticism of american policy is not rooted in discontent - its just that i disagree with some of what happens over there.and by the way, i just thought that id point out that whatever is "all the rage" in europe rather doesnt apply to me, because i am not british, as you assert...im an australian, and greek by descent. try to be a little more accurate, if you want to (try to) make acidic remarks...or youll look like a dickhead. kind of like you do.![]()
dont feel sorry about thinking im british. feel sorry about jumping on a foolish bandwagon of abuse, calling me names (not that i give a shit, but still, its irritating in its juvinility) and throwing up that really lame picture in that link.redguru said:Sorry for thinking you were British, but you sure do talk like a European with an axe to grind. As an Australian, wonder what your response to the Bali bombing was, at the same time you scream about Bush's responses on the world stage.

Dude........every officer has to write a written report for firing a weapon and doing something that stupid would get you fired.
Guvna said:Correct. You just lost your job for such idiocy.
curling said:Good I didn't want to be a pig anyway.
GoldenDelicious said:i dont see how that has anything to do with bush, though. iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and bush invaded. the indonesians had everything to do with the bali bombing, and australia just gave them a billion dollars in tsunami aid.
i really dont see your point.
redguru said:Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, but I'd like you to note, just once, any quote where Bush said it did.
Guvna said:While I agreee with your thoughts, this one was a bad idea.

redguru said:Bush always claimed that Hussein had a relationship with Al-Quaeda, but never said Iraq was responsible for 9/11.
curling said:Why the rolley eyes? Do you think I want to make squat money to do a job that everybody hate you for.
Guvna said:You are just against cops for being against them. You have no real reason for it. It is people like you that propagate their bad name, just for the sake of it.
BTW, "chased" any of them lately?![]()
Shoot into the ground?? LOL right. But of course, anything the cops do will be wrong. They should try to talk down people that try to assault them.![]()
curling said:I mean aren't cops suppose to fire a warning shot in some instances?
curling said:I wouldn't have thought that was wrong at all. I really don't think it was real wrong to use the tazor other than he should have tried longer to get her out of the car before resorting to actually firing. I mean aren't cops suppose to fire a warning shot in some instances?
curling said:Really what about my wife being wrongfully accused for starting a fire in our house for instance? That is enough to piss anyone off. I mean first we are all freaked out that someone almost killed us and then cops say she did it that is just plain insulting.
musclemuscle said:Ok...so now if we do not obey an "officers" command we get stunned...that is rediculous! This country is becoming more and more like Nazi Germany and less like America.
i think you should go back and reread the thread, gambino...though i get the impression that both your reading comprehension and your thinking ability are rather lackingGambino said:The biggest lol of this thread is the fact the goldenshower actually blamed this event on George Bush...fucking twit
well yes, a boycot from tourists but a helping hand by government (as was done) would be fairly appropriate, and conductinve to change over there.redguru said:So you think a boycott is an appropriate response to an act of war upon your own citizenry? Afghanistan did attack us, and Saddam would have if he could. Immediately after that Qaddafi went to the negotiating table. Fair warning to the rest, if you wish to play our game, welcome to the pro tour.
so then, o great and knowledgable redguru, why are you in iraq, exactly?redguru said:Iraq (or better, Saddam's Regime) was the first and hopefully not the last victim of a policy that will help ensure our way of life remains through the 21st Century. ziggyziggy said:To each their own. The US is definately getting more conservative, and here, police are the second most trusted institution, just after the military. The liberal media, by contrast, ranks near the bottom.
The woman in this case, swung at the officer on the other side of the vehicle. This is a felony. Use of nonlethal force in such a case is justified. I personally don't care if she spat at them. She deserved what she got. I truely believe that people would break the law less, if the threat of an immediate ass whipping was in place, in addition to arrest and prosecution.
I have no sympaty for anyone, regardless of race, color or creed, that assaults, or attempts to assault police officers. The fact that you side with the criminal in this case shows me just how far off their rocker liberal leftisis, socialists, and neo-communists are the world over.
Like I said, fill the shoes of a police officer for a week and see if you feel the same. Even if you did have the ability to, your incessant whining, and lack of analytical ability would prevent it.

What other occupations in this country are average joe citizens proudly claiming to be experts at?
Why even have police academy's if obviously everyone in the public knows how a cop should do his/her job. Must be a damn simple job i guess.

who are you to know what the indonesian government is doing? the indonesian government is seperate from their judiciary, just as in any civilized country. the indonesian government has acted appropriately, in my opinion - or do you want me to ignore the fact that there are many bombings throughout indonesia, which it has been actively trying (usuccessfully) to stop, and instead paint the indonesian government as the perpetrator of that crime, even while it tries to find and prosecute them?redguru said:If a country allows its citizenry to go around committing these acts with a wink and a nod, then the government is complicit in these acts. That Australian girl got a much bigger sentence than the cleric who masterminded the Bali bombing. That says a lot for the courts in Jakarta and the government. No brainwashing about it, you see a scorpion near your camp, you squash it, you don't let it wander about hoping that it won't sting you in your sleep.
