Warm/hot Water After Workouts....

TRUEsoldier said:
I thought ice/cold water, constricts bloodvessels, thefore slowing bloodflow down??? that is why they ice swelling to try to lower the blood flow to the spot??
icecold water?! no.

why do u think u get sleepy when ur warm...its cause the water relaxes the bloodflow

Why ?

I've read something about cold water causing vasodilatation = more blood = good....

Here are a couple of reasons against extremely hot showers after heavy lifting:

Extremely hot and cold showers or sauna baths should be avoided after exercise. These extreme temperatures increase the workload on the heart.

Especially after an intense session, a shower that's too hot may cause dizziness or fatigue.

I forget why ice cold showers are bad, but they supposedly also make the heart work harder as well.

But then again, I don't think any of these cold/hot showers really make that much of a difference.

Depends on how you do it

30 seconds hot followed by 30 seconds cold = worthless

(3 minutes hot followed by 3 minutes cold ) twice = can make a difference

I get sleep when it gets cold. When its warm (80-85) I'm a happy camper.

hot water= vasodilation
cold water= vasoconstriction

vasodilation=increased blood flow
protein shake with carbs....and vasodilation = nutrients being shuttled efficiently?

Hmm...really? I'll give that a try sometime. :)

I normally spend a few hours in the Sea after I train on Sundays. Love it.

It does make me feel better...and the water at the beach I go to on Sundays is pretty chilly.
