Walmart: Huge Job Provider Still in Great Demand

As much as liberals hate Walmart, the company continues to grow, and grow and grow.

America loves itself some Walmart.

<snip>

"John Menzer, the company's vice chairman and head of its domestic Wal- Mart stores division, said Wal-Mart was on schedule to meet an announced target of between 335 and 370 new U.S. store openings this year after 341 last year.

Wal-Mart opened 69 new stores and Sam's Clubs in January, a company record for one month, it announced last week."

Walmart will imploded on its self soonier or later,the reason they are hated so much by liberals and conservatives alike, is that they screw the small buisness man. The few dollars that are saved by shopping there, pale in comparision in to lost wages and in the long run hurt the middle class.

Chain stores and malls have been sinking small retail businesses and contributing to urban sprawl since the 1970's, which is the last time wages kept up with inflation. A large middle class in the US is a relatively new phenomenon, it happened after WWII. It seems as the product life cycle in manufacturing continues it's only a matter of time before the US middle class shrinks dramatically. It could be argued we've simply re-defined the middle class to lower the qualifying economic standard.

I shop at Super Kmart just to avoid the crowd at WalMart.

Really? So how much in wages will be lost when new jobs are created to build, stock, manage, secure, advertise for, ship to, and man 371 new stores? Not to mention the smaller stores that always sprout up in the vicinity.

How much will be lost to consumers when they realize the collective savings from the shopping to be done at those stores?

as long as there are people who will work there... it will exist. Same people complaining about the dang company are the ones taking jobs and shopping there. Here's an idea, go get an education or some special skills and then you can change your earnings situation.

Me too. The fact that it pisses liberals off is an added plus.

If you shop at a place with low end products and fourth rate fashions just to piss off people you dont' even know... that shows insecurities in your own state of mind above all else.

I said it was an added plus, not the major reason. The liberal whining and gnashing of teeth began years after I started buying goods there for my family that elitists like you consider to be low end.
