The same way it's funded in europe, by taxes. A liberal should not be afraid to use the word taxes.

The universal healthcare concept is a huge expense and yes it would have to come from higher taxes no doubt. I happen to agree that the healthcare system is in a crises. I fear that the cost and cons of a government run healthcare system would be a massive beauracracy and well I have not heard any good solutions to it. I work in medicine, the issues are huge. Itd be a massive program and government tends to fuck things up big time. The drain of the economy would be massive. The Republicans should work with the Democrats and come up with a solution but they'd rather play politics with the issue. Its one of the things that does piss me off how messed up it is but the Democrats as well dont have a reasonable solution more than lipservice on it.

You make it sound as if teachers have all the tools they need and have all the resources necessary to get teaching our children done in a somewhat encompassing manner. The problem is the public school system as a whole needs revamping. Qualified princiapls and teachers need to be in place , but they need the backing of local and county gov't to make this happen.

I agree

Incorporation is also a double tax but noone is complaining about that. I believe a will lessens the tax burden of an individual upon death. But turning a business from a sole proprietorship into an LLC or full incorporation via IRS filing will lessen the tax burden further by separation the individual from the business. This is the whole point of incorporating , but dont' tell 75th that...

I am not necessarily against a death tax per se but they should prevent it from destroying family businesses. People lose family businesses and farms because of the estate taxes. Now there is a valid argument in that wealth is created in this society and they take advantage of this environment and so say a Bill Gates should have a death tax. Its something that should be limited to the very wealthy and the superwealthy though and let the smaller fish keep their family business. There is a good debate but in general the death tax is wrong in its current form IMO.

Agreed

No reason to attack conservatives or liberals when they both have problems, the only way issues are resolved are to work as a moderate getting agreements with both sides working. Unfortunately the people are too polarized and rather attack the other side which basically screws everyone b/c the US is headed towards becoming towards huge issues. Glad I wont have to live here to worry about it very soon

1. I think as soon as people forget about being hypocrites and do what's right for all Americans, then we can have universal health care. But that means we need to do away with "resessive" taxes and have only "flat" taxes. Greed is the only reason a flat tax will never exist in America

There are too many factors in side of the estate tax question,
1. The percentage the spouse gets if no will is there
2. The fair market value of the stock

If Bill gates died today and he had no will , it would probably be decided in court

maybe you know more than i do about it...if their is laws being broken than by all means make them pay.
In my simpleton knowledge of business is like this: the consumer has the ultimate say in a companies success.

I just see the long term trends of some of the corporate entities setting the US up for a fall in the coming decades. Sacrificing the long term stability of the US for short and mid term company gains.

I agree that they are efficient and their cheap products is like a tax cut for their shoppers. Dollar buys more but are we sacrificing too much for those cheaper products?
There are situations where there can be legitimate problems to bring up. That is, in fact, why people always bitch about Walmart.
Its not strictly a black and white issue. Walmart is good in some respects and then there are areas where they could improve for sure.

I am very troubled that last year, we as a nation spent more than we made. Usually the rich people offset the poorer people by saving. That was not the case. Right now the consumer is leveraged to the hilt living paycheck to paycheck and buying homes that they cannot afford. Its a recipe for a coming economic disaster. Once the economy turns majorly south, perhaps if oil doubles in price from Iran or other triggers. People start using credit cards to save themselves and the credit card companies turn them off b/c of they see people cant pay them then the US will be in a world of shit. Mark my words, you heard it hear first. The US in thirty years will be a third world country with India and China being world leaders

Unfortunately the nation as a whole has turned to the right very sharply since Bill Clinton... This does not surprise or shock me
