... and that's only 16 days, lol.

She's amazing with teh dieting help :heart:


... even if she makes you count and measure all your food, it's worth it.

I may just swing by in person (especially given that you are traveling with a pack of wimminz as mentioned in Sarge's journal ;) ) -- I plan to be back in the Chicago area for good within the next couple of weeks.

As much as I abhor the thought of diet micro-management, it may be a necessity at this point. When I have a stronger inclination I will post what I've been doing for diet. In a nutshell I've been carb cycling at what I am 99% sure is caloric deficit. However, the scale hasn't budged and I do appear to have leaned out a little. But at this rate I'll be dieting ad infinitum and that's not going to fly.

WSB Week 3 -- MONDAY
ME Squat/DL


I helped someone move over the weekend and it was tough. {lus, I got locked out of my apartment at 3 am and couldn't get a hold of anyone for while, so my sleep got all kinds of messed up. So week 2 only had two workouts (again :()

Box squats worked up to three singles w/ 365
-These sucked. I couldn't get 'em right. First, the power racks here are way too narrow (I was barely able to get my feet wider than shoulder width with my toes out), and I was using a bunch of 45's stacked up as my 'box' which felt odd. I don't think I'll be doing box squats at this gym any more, as they just weren't right.

Deads 315 and 365 for triples, single w/ 405
-Just wanted a little more work since the box squats sucked. I'll max on these next week.

Front Squats worked up to 275x3x3
-Hard. I did 'em in my Chucks with a 5 lb plate under my heels.

Hanging Leg Raises 18, 15
-There was a distractingly-hot college girl vacuum-packed into a pair of white pants and a white tank top working on the machine right in front of me, which made me want to stick around and do more sets. However, I didn't want sore abs for bench on weds, so I reluctantly left after two sets.

Hypers BWx15x2
-Felt good.

Then I stretched and left, disappointed. I really liked doing box squats previously and I'm pretty sure they were what got me to 500 on deads.
 
WSB Week 3 -- WEDS, FRI, SUN

WEDS. -- ME Upper Body
Bench
worked up to three singles w/ 315
-I tried for a double on the last one and it didn't move more than a couple inches before I stalled. The singles were all fairly easy though -- never a doubt I'd hit 'em. During my last WSB run I found that my sticking point was midway through the lift. Perhaps it's a form issue, since I don't think I was using any leg drive whatsoever and I'm not sure my upper back was particularly tight. I'm hoping that I can get 335 or better next weds.

Pendlay Rows 245 4 sets of six
-These are coming along perfectly. They were tough but not brutal, so next weds should put me right where I want to be effort-wise on these.

Standing OHP 145 for three sets
-I think I did eith reps on all sets, but I may have quit early on the last one. I must be getting old -- I can't remember my workout from four days ago :p

BB Curls couple sets of 8 w/ 100 pound BB

Needsize abs BW 5x5
-Brutal. These hit the lower abs all the way down to where they attach at the pelvis. I have to believe that these have tremendous functional carryover to the big lifts.

Then I stretched and left. It was my birthday today :artist:


FRIDAY -- DE Squat/DL

Whattayaknow -- I finally made it in for a DE day :)

Speed deads warmups, 8 singles w/ 315
-Pretty easy, though I don't know just how fast I would sonsider these; I'm terrified of wrenching my back by ripping the bar off the floor, so I get it going slowly and accelerate on the way up. I'd really rather be box squatting with bands here.

Power Shrugs warmups, 405 for threee sets of five
-Kinda easy, kinda awkward. I haven't done these in probably two years and since I'm a big clumsy oaf their explosive nayure gave me some balance issues on the last reps of the last two sets. I really liked doing 'em though.

Then I did some hanging leg raises (just to loosen up my back really -- nothing challenging), some hypers, stretched and left. I kept the workload intentionally low since I've been so sporadic in my gym attendance over the last month. I don't want to bury myself the week before attempting a max DL.

SUNDAY -- DE Bench

DE Bench warmed up to 'normal' triple w/ 275, then 8 DE triples w/ 165
-I did the standard three grip rotation for these (wide, normal, close) w/ minimal rest. I lowered the bar, paused it on my shest, and tried to throw it through the roof, LOL. It felt like it would have gone pretty damn high if I would have let it go, so I feel good that the weight was right.

Chins BWx8, x7
-Surprised by this. The bar was slipperry and I cranked out 8 full reps without much drama. I may have gotten more with straps, but I didn't bring 'em.

OHP135x12
-Pump set

Oly Squats several light sets, triple w/ 275, 315
-I just wanted to get the blood flowing in my post. chain and quads.

Then I did some high-rep side laterals and hypers, stretched and left. It's about time I made it in for all the damn workouts. I've been busy with a few different things but there's really no excuse for not making it to the gym. I hope I can hit a PR on deads tomorrow. My back feels pretty good and I don't think I'm overly fatigued at this point. We shall see....
 
WSB Week 4 -- MONDAY
ME Squat DL

Deads
lotsa warmups, 365, 405, 455 for singles, 515xfail (PR attempt), 455xfail
-Blech. I didn't get it more than three inches off the ground. I don't think I would have matched my current PR of 500. Oh well.

Front squats
275x3x3
-I think this is exactly what I did last time.

Then I did some hypers, stretched and left. I don't think I'm going to run WSB while dieting again. I am too PR-focused to put the proper focus on dieting when a PR-attempt is looming. I may run HST next as it worked out well last time. But I still have a max bench attempt this weds....
