Vernon Forrest vs. Shane Mosley

Delinquent

Well-known member
I think this is gonna be one hell of a fight. Forrest has the talent and experience to beat him again but I don't know if it'll be enough. From what I've read, Mosely has been fuming over this ever since he lost. The one thing that could get in Mosely's way is if he lets his emotions take over. Other than that, I think this will be one of Mosely's best fights.

I'll say Mosley.

His whole career is riding on this fight...if he loses,he is relegated to second tier status among today`s elite fighters...look at how De La Hoya is perceived now...Vargas....Naseem Hamed...Diego Corrales....

Also, you have to understand that if the bout is even remotely close,Mosley will get the decision....we all saw the Morales-Barrera fight and the prospect of the third big money fight is usually the determining factor in a close decision...throw in the fact that mosley is the "marquee name"with the big HBO contract.....

With all that said,i personally think that Forrest has the height, defense and power(the total style)that will give Mosley a fit every time....i might even go as far as saying Forrest is the better, more complete fighter....Mosely is flashier and gets all the press...but,i`m probably taking Mosely in what will probably be a boring, cautious second fight(see Morales-Barrera 2)to win a close decision whether he desrves it or not....third fight coming up.

Forrest will own Mosely again. Period. He has his number. Also, Delahoya is an absolute prick. I wished Vargas could hand his ass to him. Unfortunately, that wont happen as De Lahoya is a much better boxer.

I don't know if I was too drunk last night but I don't know how the fight turned out to be so lopsided on the cards. Here are the stats

FORREST MOSLEY
Landed 120 114
Thrown 446 259
% Landed / Thrown 30 44

Mosely had a higher punches landed every single round. Now here's the score card.

Judge Tony Castellano scored it 117-111, Jerry Roth had it 115-113 and Gary Merritt had it 116-112.

It just seemed like a closer fight than it was

THE LOGIC BEHIND GIVING FORREST THE FIGHT ON THE CARDS WAS THIS: FORREST LANDED SOMETHING LIKE 44% OF HIS POWER PUNCHES. MOSELY LANDED SOMETHING LIKE 25% OF HIS.

IF ANYTHING, I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THE FIGHT A DRAW. I DONT THINK FORREST CAN BEAT MOSELY AS LONG AS MOSELY STAYS AWAY FROM HIS RIGHT (WHICH HE DID VERY EFFECTIVELY BUT DIDNT THROW ENOUGH PUNCHES TO WIN THE FIGHT). SHANE WAS AVG'ING 21.5 PUNCHES A ROUND. WHICH IS TOO LOW TO WIN ANY FIGHT. EVEN IF YOU LAND MORE.

THATS WHY FORREST WON. NO OTHER REASON. THE FIGHT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DRAW.
