Transgendered boy in 2nd grade

2nd grade? WOW!! Is it normal for kids to up and say they are gay that young these days?? Man I have known of kids all through high school that seemed gay, but would always deny it. It was when they were in their 20's that they finally admitted it.

Based on the maturity of a second grader I would be suspect of any claim that they were not the gender they were born. We laugh off everything else a second grader does like saying they want to be an alien or a robot, why are all of a sudden taking them seriously when it comes to this?

I wish you could have seen the special that I saw on the topic. If you saw the special, you would take them seriously. The poor kids tried so hard to be the gender that was in line with their outward bodies, because of the stigma. It was heartbreaking to see the trauma that these kids go through.superdave said:

I have a theory that the embryo is subjected to an overabundance of the hormones of the opposite sex in these kids. So they have the genitals of one gender and the brains of another, if that makes any sense.

For these transgender kids it must be a blessing having parents who accept their kids choice at such a young age, might help them make the right choices for treatment BEFORE puberty hits these kids and nature defines their sexual characteristics FOR THEM...

I hate to make this "another" religion based thread........but I have to bring up that a family member of mine, devoutely christian........paints all such children (gay and transgendered) as the result of sexual abuse. This "family member" is an evangelical or something like that........and they beleive that all gender misidentified children are simply the result of sexual abuse. I mean he painted the whole field, generalized right down to a "T". And it's those kind of people in society that are the reasons why there are 40 and 50 year old men getting sex changes because they had enough of not being who they are. It's hard not to boil over with rage at such people.........I honest to god think that christians have not done this society any favors by how they've shaped it. When you can look at that little kid and say.....meh, he just got finger banged by his dad when he was younger, so naturally he's a fag or fag in a dress that thinks he's a woman.

The sad thing is that lots of docs wont let them undergo the hormone therapy before they are 18. If they could stop the hormonal changes before they took place in puberty, it would be an easier transition for them.Big Rick Rock said:

It's great the child has supportive parents, but if it gets to the stage of hormonal minipulation and sex reassignment surgery you can't go back (at least not very well).
If the child feels the same way at 18, then go ahead.

When you realize the vast majority of Christians have subpar education levels and IQ, you quickly realize it doesn't matter what they think.

Such is the dilemma: do we allow minors, in all their infinite wisdom, to undergo something so drastic as a sex change, or do we wait until they are mature enough mentally and emotionally to make the decision as adults, when the permanency of puberty of the supposedly wrong gender has already taken hold.heatherrae said:

I would have tended to agree with you before I saw that documentary on these kids. It was very obvious that the kids KNEW they were put in the wrong bodies from the get-go.superdave said:
