Training Board Monthly PR post

815 pull off the three pins after DE work again, no ephedrine help this time either. Full house in the morning-3 guys from Ireland, 1 from England big Preacher Tony(1000sqt) came up, and chuck v. is ready for the Arnold meet. He pulled 915 with straps off pin 4 before his DE squats of 435'ish with 2 blues and a green(FAST) so that was a reality check when you think your strong. lol.

DAMN !!! That's so sweet. I'd love to train where you do. :D

chuck's my idol...tell him some no-name in Missouri thinks he's the shiz-nit.

No problem Spatts, thing is I didn't want to pull, needed to recoup from all the pulling lately, but then lou started saying he was getting a pr today so I joined in. He even pulled 805 with straps and a huge nose bleed. I still haven't tried straps yet, I think I'll wait.later

01/31/03 - Rack Pulls from Center of Knee Cap - PR 700

First time at this height as I normally go from below my knees. Of course no straps used on one of those crappy chrome no grip bars. I went for 715 but tore my left hand on the way up. I guess it's time to up my grip work some, or add in some straps for my very last set at least....

Well I guess you could say its a PR of sorts, heaviest weight so far on this exercise

3/2/03

Single Arm Dumbell Row on Bench

Reversegrip 95lbs 2x6
man the wider dumbells made me have to pull really wide using a reverse grip - tough!

Normal grip 95lbs x 6
Man feel so much easier to do these with this grip, greater ROM as well.

12/05/02 - ME Bench: 2 Board Press with Doubled Light/Purple Bands - 305 pounds

These bands doubled are supposed to be somewhere around 170 at lockout and 115 at chest

02/05/02 - 2 Board Press with Doubled Light/Purple Bands - PR 335 + Bands

It's always a good day when you hit a 30 pound PR. I first hit a PR of 315 + Bands then the 335..

Yep, haven't been in a couple years, finally got my vacation time approved so I'll be there on Friday and Saturday, Chuck lifts Friday and so does Amy, I'll be handing out to Amy on her bench-which she is doing very well at right now(along with her dl and sqt pr's)

3-4 Inch Close Grip Rack Lockouts - 615x3 x 5 Sets

These just keep getting easier, and I even took shorter rest periods between each set than last time...

Dips: 15 at bodyweight, controlled cadence. No problem. Last time I did 10, and the last one gave me issues

More PR's in four weeks when I'm near the end of my HST cycle.

Absolutely no way! Wow.

I have to tell you that after every Friday session, I tell my boyfriend that I think I've just sucked. I know I've just begun the training and now I'm getting ready for my first ever strongman/woman contest in June. AND I've got to improve my damn grip!
BUT, man thanks for letting me know that! I can't wait to hear about the whole event from Julie and Tod!

And again, b: you've inspired me to train my ass off from here on out!:D

Chain suspended GM's (40") - 345 for 2 singles - 40lbs PR

High-pulls - 205x3x3 - No increase in weight, but MUCH easier this time. Aiming for 225lbs next time.

Still good that you got it upo that high, especially after what you had done previous. I pulled 425 a couple weeks ago for 2 singles myself. The second lockout was questionable, though. My lifts were something like (Raw - no gloves, straps or belt, and used a rosin bag for grip):
185x5
235x5
285x2
335x1
385x1
405x1
425x1x2

Hope to hit 425 for 4 singles in a week or two, then will be aiming my sights on 455.

Good job on the pull.

Deadlift - 455x1 - Struggled a bit with the lockout, but did hit it. I have a video of as soon as I get it up and get it hosted.

475 floor press- it was ugly but I got it and my weight was about 5-10lbs low. About time for the creatine boost.

02/20/03 - ME Bench

Close Grip Incline Press - PR 365

Previous Best was 355.. I could have gone higher, but my tendonitis in my left elbow was severly aggrivated yesterday so I stopped after hitting a PR..... And I must say, I really hate Inclines... I feel like it's an all delt push for me, and I just feel terribly weak on them... But yet, all the more reason to include them in my ME rotation...

Then on to:

Incline Tate Press: 5 sets of 10 w/55 lbs
Low Rows: 5 Sets of 6-8
Rope Pressdowns: 3x15 Reps

This was of course after my speed bench work.. 625 didn't feel at all heavier than the 615 from 2 weeks ago, so coming along nicely on my lockout....

GM: 225X4/3/3 rest paused 15 sec. between.

squats: 265x4 ATF, 205x20 ATF

those are all i care about right now. hehe.

Pulled 745 off the floor, 20 lbs or so pr. I always pull way less than at a meet so this is pretty good . Hurt my shoulder last friday so bench this week was nill.

835 reverse blue band pull, at least a 25-40 pound pr, got to check to make sure we had it set up right, pretty sure we did tho, Becca Swanson stopped by-she is huge! blew both eyes at the meet- she's way stronger than her 374 bench (in a poly shirt).

I worked up to 700 without lifting straps, then put them on for 765 and 815..

Not sure if this is what i'm supposed to do but here goes...
1 Rep Maxes:
Squat 425
hang clean 250
bench 330 (bit of an uneven lockout)
DL 455

Leg Press 1010 lbs x 6 reps.

I had more in the tank but nowhere to hang the weights. I think I can possible get another 25-50 lbs on the machine or maybe ask if someone wants to go for a ride.

I haven't dione theses in a few months. I'm paying ofr it today.(sore)

This week so far -

inline bench - 230 x 3s r/p 5,4,3
deadlift - 355 x 3s r/p 4,4,3 then 405 x 3 reps w/wraps

Those are good lifts. How deep is your squat?

The hang clean is very, very good. I'm thinking of working them into my own workouts, but I'm having trouble deciding what to do them with.

the squat is parallel with the floor, I absolutely HATE cleans, and I want to learn how to power clean properly. We have this olypmic powerlifter guy at our school helping out our track team and i'mma MAKE him teach me how to clean perfectly, my goal by new years is 300 lbs clean, 500 squat, wish me luck!

I was aiming for 5 sets of 3 as always on these but had a few extra reps in me at the end.. I feel these short range lockout are really helping my lockout strength as well as helping my body adapt to weights well in excess of my max bench press.. And they keep getting easier each time even with the 10 pound jumps i take every other week when i do these..... So for now they will stay..

conventional dead lift 340 - good
365 - barely moved

got cocky and jumped up in weight.
sumo dead was at 325 . dont know which is beter. rehab for the back is pretty well done, so they honeymoon is over.

high box (12") 325

PowerSnatch PR

Anyway I could barely lockout this weight for 1 rep months ago, today I did several sets, and a 2x2 which you see one of the sets above.

Workout went like this up to the PR

Rest - 2 mins - unless stated otherwise

1xPowerSnatch + Midthigh Hang PowerSnatch 115lbs
PowerSnatch 135lbs x 5 singles - 1min rest between each
PowerSnatch 135lbs 2x2 - NEW PR!

see this thread for video

back squats
275x4 ATF (this is the most i've done A$$ to the floor)

215x20 blech!!!!

GM's
235x3

DC training is really bumping up/forcing me to go up in weight and crank up the intensity.

605 reverse blue band press. Think 590 was my pr, got 12 workouts till meet day. Figured out I have to almost high bar squat to save my shoulder to bench tho.

Wow, that is huge DB.

I hit a 675 box squat Saturday wearing just breifs and a belt. This was done after 12 doubles with 455. I felt really good and hit 495 for a single, then 545, then 585, and I just decided to go for it and hit 675. (that is 7 plates per side boys and girls)

I was very fired up about it, been doing some whacky stuff over the winter and it has paid off in big dividends on my squat.

B.

450lb shoulder shrugs 2 reps

I prolly could have done 5-6, but had done 2 sets prior. The one before was 410 for 6. Next week, I start at 410, then see if I can hit 6 with 450

Stick with it man. You'll be there in no time. Great work.

i rarely train shoulders directly like that. my shoulders seem to grow well enough without that working them would make me look funnier with my smaller arms attached to them. :)

Damn, I miscalculated the 1010. it was 950lbs x 6.

1020 x 2 this time I checked the weight three times.

There are some consistant posters here, wow. Nice to see how everyone is progressing.

Great work everyone.

Most recent max-testing:

Bench Press: 242.5lbs x 1

Deadlift: 297.5lbs x 1

Didn't test my squat. My adductors were playing up and I had to prepare for an indoor soccer match, rather than risk further aggrivation.

I've only been squatting and deadlifting (well, lifting properly) for the past 6 months or so, and even that's been broken up by breaks from lower-body work because of injury. My bench is comparatively high because I've trained my upper-body for about 3 years, but only properly for 6 months.

i rarely train shoulders directly like that. my shoulders seem to grow well enough without that working them would make me look funnier with my smaller arms attached to them.

Seriously,
Try hitting your shoulders hard for a while jesus..... I swear to god it creates the hugest illusion that my arms are significantly larger than they actually are!

March 18/03

Rack Deadlifts from below the knees
2x5x340
1x3x340 <--- Tryed to rest a second or two before the forth reps and too much lactic acid pumped into my back... could have done it but would have been more strenuous than my kneck could have taken...

Wide Grip Chins
2x8xbodyweight - Had never even gotten 8 until last week for 1 set
My third set I hit 8 too but the last rep was almost completely assistance driven.. lol

I'm gunna keep Rack Deadlifting until I get to 405 for sets of 5 and test my conventional Deadlift strength then.... Give me until the end of summer... it will be mine!

19th March 2003

PowerClean 205lbs x 2

Did a double of my old 1RM :)

First rep required minimal dip to rack - just to absorb shock - otherwise pretty much with straight legs.
2nd rep was 2 inches lower - had to dip to rack it.

Thanks - soon 2plates - 225lbsx1 :)

20th March 2003

Supported Rows - Wide Palms Down Grip
(just plates - don't know how much the bar weighs)

82.5lbs 3x5

Ahhh, the wonder of wing night...

Last night I polished off 24 chicken wings and 5 perogies @ 11pm...
The fruits of my eating labours showed up today in the gym..

Last week I had difficulties getting up 145x5x5 on militaries...
This week, 150x5x5 went up like NOTHING... SO EASY... I'm excited.. I hope the weights keep on going up!

So todays PRs were

Military presses 5x5@150lbs -- PIECE OF CAKE!

Close grip chinups 2x6x bodyweight(200lbs)+25 -- Never done weighted chins until last week.. these were tough.. but definitely interesting

JM presses 3x8x165 -- I think my weight on these is going to go up really quick.. I just started doing these recently.. should be over 200 in no time!

Todays workout was amazing... I love training shoulders these days!

Flat bench 210lbs 2x8 1x6

Military press 100lbs 4x12

deadlift 170lbs 4x12

Squat 220lbs 3x10 ; 240lbs 1x6

Incline Dumbell hammer presses 30lbs 3x10 1x6

Close Grip Bench 110lbs 4x12

Standing bent-over Concentrate Curls 30lbs 3x8

Form is good

getting up there agian

Also I should note that I dont ALWAYS get a perfect set, but if I do I try to get another sqeeze after a bit of rest.
