today i trade in my range rover

stilleto

ELITE MENTOR
EF VIP
for a rented neon.

that's what the insurance company is giving me.
i talked to the rental agency and said i can't drive a neon, it probably won't make it up my driveway. they said they'll see if they have anything else and came back with a chevy cavalier.

i don't think my boys will even fit in either.

I rented a Neon once...they don't corner very well at high speeds. Makes lots of smoke and smells bad.

Oh Lord, Neon's are like the poor man's Gremlin. Cavalier's aren't bad driving, but you're right, pretty compact.

you just wanted to tell us all that you own a range rover

i haven't wanted to tell you in the year or two that i've already owned it, so why would that be my intention now, schlub?

They don't make Neon's or Cavalier's any longer?

What kinda rental company is it?

enterprise.
they will give me whatever comes in at under $30 a day- that's the deal they have with geico, but i said i'd upgrade. then they said they don't really have anything else right now.
it's a VERY small rental agency...

plus, we're a family of 5. Three of whom are 6' tall and over.

whatever they give u will not have the curse of Lucas Electronics the land rover has :worried: ....the rental will start every time u turn the key and the A/C will be freezing cold.

enjoy the change while it lasts!!!!!!! :p

BTW...what is the british revenge for having America twice pull their chestnuts outta the fire in the shop for THIS time?

old British car joke:

is your car in the shop again?

of course....it's a jaguar.

Stilleto, You do not have to accept the Neon.. I was struck at a stoplight in March and the guy totalled my 07 Cadillac Deville with 3200 miles on it..his insurance company wanted to put me in a Hyundai. I went thru my insurance company and went into a new Deville like the one I had.. the end result was AAA insurance out of Texas paid for it.. They try and bully you until you no.. I will never go thru anothers insurance company again... Always have your insurance company replace your investment and subrogate against the other company.. This way you will not be out any money..

Ranger Rover and Jaguar are owned by Ford.

I'm not sure if that's better or worse frankly.

They gave me a Chevy Cobalt for my Audi...

I'm so vain that I didn't go running errands and such as much - I avoided leaving the house for that 10 days because I didn't wanna be seen in it.

and the joke is on ford for being pwned by these 2 ageing, unreliable british relics of the 50's and 60's.

Which Range Rover did you have?
Did you like it?

it's the sport edition and... it's ok. for where I live now, i thought it would be great, but it sticks out a bit and I don't like that.

i prefer something i don't have to worry about as much too.
it rides nicely though, although i pretty much just go back and forth to work and the high school.

huh. interesting.
i could do that and then get reimbursed for it, i know. but because there were 4 other cars, i know there will be a fight as to who is responsible and i'll have a long wait.
but you're right, i should put up a stink to get something closer to an SUV. just not a minivan. it's gonna really suck if whatever car i get can't get up my driveway.

I hear you. I was looking at the L3 and the new L2 and I'm always like PHHHfffffff not turning me on. What about something like a Tahoe?
I've always liked those - never drove one though.

If there were 4 other cars then you need to go thru your insurance due to the fact that each insurance company will accept a portion of the responsibility of the accident and you will get stuck in the long run if you wait on someone to accept liability on your claim.... By going thru your insurance company they can make you whole again quickly and then subrogate your damages thru the insurance arbitration committee.... good luck

yup, that's what i did. i went through mine (geico), who will fight for me to get my money back. luckily, i'm absolved of all responsibility because i didn't hit anyone.

I don't really mind much what type of car as drive as long as it isn't a minivan.

OH GOD... NEVER AGAIN. LFMAO

I had my car in the shop a few months back (hit and run in the parking lot and of course, the other driver fled the scene - expired tags and no insurance so it came out of mine anyway). We use E-surance and I gotta say it was all pretty painless. They put me in some sort of new SUV - A nice black Chevy Yukon I think. I didn't mind driving around in it at all (as far as the *being seen* factor)... I have to say though, I didn't like it very much. I thought my Honda Pilot was a much better drive.

But neither is a Jaguar. ;)

Tahoes are ok, but the suspension feels mushy. Gas mileage sucks too. They're ok if you have a boat or whatever that you tow. I think the X5 is the best SUV out there if you just have it for driving and not hauling or offroading. BMW's service is the best out there too. All you'll ever have to pay for is tires.

i don't mean the company is small- i meant the little franchise i'm going to is.

i decided to wait. The bodyshop said i need an exhaust system that they have to order. the rental place said it's either some tiny car, or a minivan, and one won't go up my driveway and the other is too gross for me (the minivan. I won't drive one again. i don't car that it's temporary. i can't do it).
plus, it was a gross one.

they are going to reserve a midsize car for me- most likely a pt cruiser. i can totally deal with that.

You can drive a PT Cruiser, but you can't drive a minivan?

I got news for you -- a PT Cruiser is just a Neon station wagon. It's no bigger than the Neon they offered you first. Well, the roof is a little taller.

But on the public shame scale, a PT is worse than a minivan.

christ. . .you'll be lucky if you can even get your tits behind the steering wheel in a little shitin' car like that. . .

I don't think a PT has more power than a Neon. The kids race souped up Neons. Nobody races PT's except to the gay bar on underwear night - lol.

Who said anything about it having more power? It's the same. Same engine, same drive train, same suspension, same floorpan. PT is a Neon wagon, just like the Chevy HHB is a Cobalt wagon.

yes, PT cruiser is better than a minivan on the list of shame.
even a neon might be better.

I don't know enough about PT cruisers to know if it will make it to my house- i think as long as it's at least front wheel drive, it might. not rear wheel.

PT, just like the Neon, is front wheel drive.

You misunderstood me. PT is worse than a minivan for shame factor. PT is for gays and geriatrics only. A minivan might at least stand a fighting chance of holding your kids. Most of them are front wheel drive too.

no no, i understood what you meant but still disagree with you. you've obviously never been a "mom driving a minivan" or you'd know that driving a PT cruiser is way better.

what could happen, i'll look like a fag?
:)
i didn't know they were both front wheel drive. that helps.

i had the car a yugo was based on, a fiat 128, for 2 years while in college. it was yellow, the perfect color for that lemon! even with the windows down, keys dangling from the ignition, nobody would steal the POS.

LMFAO

I never had a nice car until I was near 39 years old.... and I was still HAWT.

God, when I think about that FREAKING minivan... I HATED, HATED, HATED it with a freaking passion. My freaking ex refused to let me have the Ford Explorer or was it Expedition?... BAH.... FREAKING MINIVANS....

And WTF is up with all the stationvan/miniwagon looking cars on the road today? Lexus, Porsche, BMW (amongst others) make these FREAKING UGLY ASS vehicles and you see these *spreading* soccer moms with big hair and hyuge stripper-looking boobjobs driving them around.
:worried:

SKEERY SHIT I TELL YAZ.

Props.
I drive a 2000 Ford Focus hatchback. It's the only economy car that's big enough on the inside to comfortably fit me.

Here is why you're wrong -- a minivan is boring and bland to the point of being nearly invisible to other motorists. A PT Cruiser is more actively annoying, like "hey look at that schmuck in that ugly piece of shit" kind of annoying.

see, i see driving in a minivan as saying "i'm a mother with no sex appeal and i can't wait to get home and cook up a nice meatloaf" and driving in a PT cruiser says, "i may be an idiot who tries to look good and fails, but at least I give a mean blow job."

But the minivan could also be saying "I'm so sexy I don't even have to try."
