I'm an innie. When your bodyfat is that low, your belly button starts to stick out. If you've never been that lean, you wouldn't understand since it's never happened to you.

Here's a more "normal" pic to prove my point:

A much healthier and attractive look IMO. I wonder if a protuding navel is the body's way of telling us to add more BF? Some type of natural thermostat?

Not when you compete in bodybuilding. Which Mandy does, and I do.

There are different standards of bodyfat for just being fit and competitive BBing, and as Mandy has stated, unless you have done it, it is sometimes difficult to understand.

We don't get 'ripped' to make ourselves attractive to the other sex, we do so to win bodybuilding competitions.

Most people do not find bodybuilders, male or female, attractive when they are in comp condition.

I understand that bodybuilding diet routines are controlled and intentional, but the body/brain may not know the difference.

Therefore a protuding navel in a bodybuilder or in a starving Darfurian may reflect similar nutritional impact.

When I diet, I am still eating around 1800 kcals per day, and I also up my calories to 2000-3000 kcals at least once a week.

Eating small meals every 2-3 hours also just gets the metabolism cranked, so it keeps burning fat.

The nutritional impact is not the same, as people who are truely starving lose muscle mass, whereas bodybuilders on comp diets lose very little or no muscle mass.

In fact, the first time I dieted down, I put on some lean tissue (related to the triggers for GH release).

It is really knowing a lot about your physiology and biochemistry, and working it.

BTW, I am a natural BBer, so my gains were not related to any performance enhancing drugs. Just a really good diet and intense training.

i was kidding, btw. no ownage, although i have never been close to that lean. mandy looks great, tatyana looks great. lestute is a shithead, though. :D

Not at all, I have nothing against responsible steroid use. I must admit there are times I am even a wee bit jealous of the girlies that use.............

I just mention being nattie as most people can't believe that you can make those sorts of gains without drugs.

I just couldn't do steroids myself (right now). I would seriously consider HRT of some form later on in life though.

I am of the opinion that far too many people resort to using performance enhancing drugs

1. without properly researching them, the benefits and possible sides

2. without maximising their own natural growth potential

3. as a short cut so they don't really train as hard as they could, or eat as well as they could

I am only getting back into doing pull-ups, so I am doing 4 sets of 5-8 reps.

I also do dips and weighted dips.

I don't train any differently than a man would, except I do squats and dead lifts :) JOKE

calorie restriction is the accepted best way to decrease aging
so long as you have the nutrition that's necessary and vitamins etc.

bulking and these 5000 calorie/day diets etc. just to add extraneous muscle is chopping years off your life and the quality of your life as you wind dowm

Just because one states that they dont take performance enhancing agents that does not mean they are degrading those that do. That's like saying I think women w/short hair are less attractive because I choose to keep mine long. Silly analogy but I think you get my point. :)

As for pullups... I LOVE to do widegrip dead hangs to this day even though I can't do nearly as many as I once could. Still do them with strict form... Tricep push-ups and dips as well...

Amazing how something so simple will clear out the weight room so quickly. :qt:

innie outtie it does not matter, you are a very stunning woman.

I believe that Ms Mandy and Ms Tatyana are BOTH stunning, great physiques with HYUGE brains and experience to back themselves up and I have to say I feel very pleased to be in such company.

I honestly feel that many different facets of fitness/training/diet/wellness are represented in the women's forum, I think, for THE FIRST TIME EVER which for me, is very exciting.

I was once a die-hard old-schooler, till life showed me that there is more than one way to skin a cat and that not everyone even WANTED to skin it regardless...

:worried:

*ducks from the kitty lovers*

:lmao:

Bad analogy, but I think you guys are feelin me... there are those who are old-school and are happy with that, but still, there are so many more who want something a bit different. In the past, these individuals would have been alienated and turned-off to something that I love and has been a HYUGE part of the last 20+ years of my life. Yes, you read that right... I have been in the gym for OVER twenty years... and I am STILL LEARNING! :)

I dont want ANYONE to feel fringe or alienated ever. I would like for all of us to come together and share. There is no *one way* to train/diet/etc. Even for those that compete, they have to go through MANY competitions before they dial it all in.

*steps off soapbox*

OK... I will STFU now. :D
