The Walmart you don't know

....

yes they have lowered the cost... but as the article points out... at what price.

So they make it easier for lower income people to buy certain items they normally couldnt afford. But those lower income people are the ones most affected by layoffs, factory closures etc...

no... Wal Mart is not solely responsible for it... but its obvious they are playing a part.

American consumers have to STOP looking for the absolute lowest price for everything and start considering the business practices of places they do business with.

I will never shop at Wal Mart. I had my reasons before... but this article really opened my eyes.

Wal Mart gives the people what they want.

This other stuff is secondary.

youi're right

and therein lies the problem.

American need to shift their attitudes about consumption. Until they do things will get worse for the average American.

Every day that we continue to shop like this is another day we get closer to becoming a socialist country.

Matt, did you come by your total shortsightedness naturally? or did you get a big box of "I dont give a fuck about anybody but myself" for the holidays last year?

I suppose you have no problem with kids in sweatshops or slave labor or forced labor at gunpoint either?

What the fuck DO you care about, besides money?

I give more back to the community in a fiscal year than you will in your entire life.

Just so you know.

And I've never bought anything at wal mart.

A personal anecdote:

I was in Savannah GA a few years ago for the St. Patrick's Day festival. If you've never been, I strongly suggest you go.

Anyway i was wearing a Nike / Syracuse sweatshirt was a big orange swoosh on it. This young girl from teh "Savannah College of Art and Design" walked up to me and said "Don;t you know Nike uses sweatshops to make their stuff"?

So I looked at her and said, "Sweatshirt....sweatshop - makes perfect sense to me".

I really couldn;t care less.
