I learned about the Austrian anschluss in high school...a public high school; This is commonly understood.

Ummm...Catholic education was mandated in Germany...all secular schools were closed.

I started to debunk this but it isn't an argument worthy of the effort.

To the people who don't know how to read between the lines, no one ever said Obama=Hitler.

The whole point of the article is to point out the fact that big government with a lust for power will destroy a country and its freedoms.

The power=destruction thing is the surface.

The Obama=Hitler thing is between the lines. She likely doesn't actually think that, but she's drawing obvious, though errant, parallels between events in Nazi Austria and the current U.S. to scare her ignorant listeners.

You're naive to think otherwise. This woman speaks at conservative rallies and conferences around the country and works for the Eagle Forum so Lol @ thinking this spiel doesn't have a hidden "Obama is evil" agenda.

The Obama=Hitler thing is obvious, because of course that's the first correlation people will make from an article like this. Like you said, she doesn't likely think that 1:1, but what better way to get a point across than to use an extreme backdrop like Nazi Germany in a cautionary tale sort of way about where America could be headed. Keyword: extreme. Socialism and governmental control being the focal points, not genocide and antisemitism.

The problem is most people are so self-absorbed with mundane bullshit that it takes a comparison like this (as extreme as it may be) for them to take notice.
