When my hubby and I went to Paris we had to take Virgin Atlantic to London for a stopover. Even though the flight attendents were speaking english, we couldn't understand them. We asked them to repeat themselves like a million times. It was really funny!

Oh and they were all so pretty. Never saw so many blond women in my life!!!

All the IQ's in this thread would need to at least double before any of you could do a decent impression of a brit:D YOU RUDDY BURKS!!:p

i like the part where you said " even though they were speaking english we didn't understand them".

We they are english and speaking their own language. its not that they sounded foreign or odd to you, its you that didn't understand real english.

it always makes me laugh when i speak with americans. it can be fun

lol! i know what you mean bro

What they don't realise is the enourmous variation in regional accents; scouse, geordie, cornish, manc etc. not to mention how different the Scottish, Welsh and Irish accents are.

i hear ya. most think that we all talk alike!

also not forgeting to add to your list, southerners, northerners, midlands.

I completely agree. It was just really funny. FInally the lady next to us had to translate. My husband works for a global company and sometimes he lets me listen in on conference calls because it's just funny. He loves talking to scottish people the best. He totally doesn't understand a word they are saying.

I'm a good northern lad, and bloody hate plummy southern accents. Since some of my friends went off to uni they have cultivated sed southern accents, which is pretty amusing and annoying. What is odd though is that one of my friends went about 150 miles north to Durham uni and came back with the toffiest southern accent I've ever heard, very odd.
