The new affrimative action

If the student from some school in Compton with a 4.0 GPA and a 900 SAT can't handle the workload they'll be kicked out anyway so the system works as it should. If they can finish it proves there's more to it than SAT/ACT scores.

It doesn't work as it should.

What invaribaly happens in the state schools is that it becomes politically untenable to start firing out minroities in large numbers.
(Most of these kids are atstate schools; the article talks of the UC system.)

So remedial course work is introduced, to bring low-end students up to speed. Colleges are in effect doing what the high schools could not.

Two consequences:

1. taxpayers pay twice for the same service - a HS level education

2. Resources are diverted away from university education and university development.

Bad!

but it does fit in with the true liberal agenda...

decreasing the overall productivity and therefore
the richness of america...because egality cannot
result naturally and is next to impossible to impose...

although the death of a thousand cuts bureacracy
we have is making a good try...

College admission has become such a scam....

I laugh everytime someone at Harvard fucks up....and yet I could not get in. I structure deals that most Harvard MBA students dream about.....

I cannot believe that some schools are offering full scholarships to foreigners when local students get passed by. I almost peed myself when a girl in Northern Afghanistan stated on NBC news that she was accepted by Harvard for the class of 2006. Was it her SAT scores?

Who said anything about minorities? This isn't an 'r****m' thread. :) Where do the "large numbers" come in to play? What percentage of kids are getting into schools under these types of loopholes? I don't ever recall any political fallouts over this type of thing and I grew up where it was ALWAYS an issue.
