The Gym According to Dial_tone

Those guys that yell: "YEAH MUTHER FUCKER! COM' ON! COM'ON BABY! FUCCK!" during their sets scare me a bit.

Yeah they crack me up too. Shut the fuck up and lift. If they spend as much energy during the set as they do yellign and hyping themselves up they would probably lift more.

Its bad enough when using one that they bring the bar up to 90 degres from teh floor, this forever damnign themselves to 15-16" arms dispite beingon a gram of test a week, but no, the guys have to lean back and brend the bar all the way past 90" and over their shoulders. Same with barbell curls. Don't they realize that if the bar goes higher than your nipple you are nto stimulating your bicep any more?
huh?

please elaborate i dont get the bold part and being new id like to cause id otn want to be damned to 15-16inch arms

Yesterday afternoon my first day back after a 2 week layoff for a trip to the hospital so I took it easy.

The trainer (who was training some skinny guy about my age with waaaaaay too much money apparently and not nearly enough manhood thanx to his PT) asked if I was done with the 25 # dumbbells as his client needed them to do a set of bicep curls. My response? "They are all yours, brutha." as I picked up and proceeded to curl the 30 #s.

:D

God, how I luv it when that happens.
uhhh....everyone starts somewhere. not everyone is born curling the 40's... i use thoe #s you use
:worried:

today one of the personal trainers at the gym was explaining to the chick he was training what cable crossovers do and why she was doing them. Here was his explanation: Well baksically (george foreman voice) what we be doin here is tightenin up da fat, cuz women have more bodyfat then men, so this will make ur muscle tighten up da fat...umm yea he kinda wasnt making sense, and talking in stupid ghetto gibberish the whole time. Hes a strong motherfucker though, throws around 405 on bench like nothing, and presses the 120 dumbells for shoulder presses

tighten up the fat? you should've asked him to explain that in more detail.

well i have to say that my gym is great. i know the owner very well (helped him extend part of the gym when he needed a hand from someone who had worked drywall) so i can do pretty much whatever i like in there. put my keys etc under the counter and all that. and apart from the espresso crowd that take maybe 2 hours to do a workout i pump out in 45 minutes, everyone is polite, helpful, and quiet. the equipment is great for hard and heavy workouts too

you shoulda shopped around, DT. or maybe youre just too hardcore, in which case id say, join a powerlifting gym. theres one a little too far from me, but wow those guys dont screw around too much

yea the guy made no fucking sense, and has the people he trains do ridiculous amounts of volume if ur a dude, and just generally pointless exercises for women, i actually was doing cardio the other day and observed his workout for one of his trainees:

the dude couldnt have been more than 150lbs, they did: Incline bench, 4 sets, flat dumbell bench, 4 sets, superset with incline flyes, 4 sets, hammer strength wide bench 4 sets, endless sets of pushups, and then like 4 sets of dips, by the time dips came around, the guy couldnt even hold himself up at all, and had to do all of them assisted.

In other words, once the weight, due to the angle of yoru forarms is no long placing leverage on the bicep you are no longer stressing it. If you curl the bar all the way up to your shoulders, close to or at 90 degress from the floor, your delts and your elbow joint are now taking most of the weight. Do not lift the bar higher than your nipple/armpit and keep your elbows back if you wish to work your biceps with curls.

On a positive note, I did see one very large Samoan build bruh absolutely toy with 405 lbs on the bench press. Maybe there is hope for today's youth. Until next time...good nite, my lil Roseanne Rosannadanna's. (you gots to be old to get that one)
id rather push up 135 for a max than look samoan any day of the week.
