We'll just agree to disagree. I take military history personally since I took graduate level classes as an undergrad at was arguably the best military history program in the US at the time. :)

when was it decided that 'wars' had to have basic technologies, or contained caveman style hand to hand combat?

we're stronger, cuz we got way better technology now. if spartans had m1 tanks, bet your ass they would use them. but they didn't. we do. cuz we're smarter.

so that's a bad comparison. that's like asking : "Who had the best medicine in human time?"

We could destroy any army of any era now. We just can't fight guerilla warfare, aka 'the invisible army' now. which is less war, and more 'bad guys in your neighborhood causing shit'.
