We'll just agree to disagree. I take military history personally since I took graduate level classes as an undergrad at was arguably the best military history program in the US at the time.
Well..I didn't really see disagreement. You argued that WWI and WWII were the bloodiest wars. I agreed.
I argued that most of the worst one or two day battles occurred with swords and axes....according to generally accepted history....which can't be proved or disproved. You didn't necessarily disagree so much as argue that their numbers were inflated.
I'm sure you have forgot more than I know about these matters. I appreciate the congeniality shown.
I've actually studied my share of history but I tend to forget it.
The destruction of the Indians of the Americas was, far and away, the most massive act of genocide in the history of the world." David E. Stannard, American Holocaust: the Conquest of the New World (1992)
Didn't think it was quite that bad. Food for thought.
I reckon we have another 5 years or so before the offspring of Bu*hooliganomics ripens to fruition. We'll get nuked by some guy in a rowboat and proceed to destroy the world as we know it.
when populations explode the young men end up in wars
such as in Islamic society today in which there are 2-4 sons
western europe has a stable birthrate now and it's pacified
so is the US to an extent
hard to lose your only son in a war
where as johnnny habib can blow himself up because he's got two brothers
