the greatest armies in the world

Siege of Jerusalem First Jewish-Roman War 0,060,000 60,000–1,100,000 killed or wounded (inc. civilians) #0070

With estimates like this, hard to say.

Germany kicked ass
tough to win when you slaughter 12 million soviets and they still keep coming
and battle the united states and the british commonwealth on two other fronts

disgraceful performance
waiting until june 1944 to invade France
and then it takes two months to breakout against a German army deep in the shit against the Soviets(Operation Bagration-June 22 1944)

I know we pretty much agree but I don't know why....my grandfather was an officer and a racist but we Germans used to know how to fight a war. Btw, major props for the hotties in your other thread...just sayin'...major props.....

FYI, I'm not a racist but my grandfather was a Prussian Officer and a proud man...he was racist but he's dead.....

You take 100 machine guns and I'll take one big bomb etc.

I'm just saying that most of the bloodiest battles were a long time ago. To me, a battle last a day or so. Definitions will vary.

I have about 20 centuries on my side, you have one.

No doubt that WWI and WWII were the bloodiest wars. I don't know how the Napoleanic wars stacked up though.

"WWIIII will be fought with sticks and stones."

Seeing 58k legitimate casualties in a day...like the Somme and it will change your view....more people died in two world wars, less than ten years, than you can legitimately claim died in the wars of the century before in Europe and North America.

I'll give you the Somme.

Hannibal and the Romans had one day battle casualties exceeding 70,000 on at least three occasions. Can't be proved one way or another.
