testosterone when ur young

Ive heard from different people that when ur younger u have much more testosterone than when ur older which i know is true some people have told me its like almost taking steroids but then other people say that when ur younger u dont gain muscle as fast im talking age 14 - 18.
Just wondering if anyone can give me info on this or somethin?

well from 14-18 most kids grow a lot of muscle and dont even lift weights, so that is something to think about.

kids lifting before they are 14 witch i think is fine. will have a hard time gaining much muscle..

and if you take a kid that is 18 and does not lift. and compare that amount of mucles to what he has at 35 you will notice less muscle mass. that being said :D

I think if you can get a kid to lift from about 13 years onwards, he can stop at 18 and always be a 'big guy'. Even if you can only get your kid to do pushups every morning and work a bowflex, you can lay down some solid foundations and an attitude to exercising at this time.

At 14-18 you're loaded with T. No roids needed. You can put on lots of muscle at that time period. If you're lifting and eating a lot, you can add even more.

I totally agree. I started lifting at about 14 and put on a pretty solid base. Now(i'm 22 now), even when I've had extended periods of poor nutrition and inactivity, I still seem to maintain a lot of the muscle put on in that period. When I was 18 I was about 190lbs LBM and I don't think I've dipped below that since then, even though there have been times when I didn't lift for as long as 5 months.

I got my little brother to start lifting with me at about age 12. I am 14 years older then
HIm but the 1st 2 year he did got little stornger and mostly learned good form. but about the age 14 his nuts kicked in good :D and he really started growing and is now in love.
I was a fraid at 1st since the strength did not come very fast he would give up. But i think he just liked hangging with the big bro and now it is all paying off. I sure with i would of started that young .....

alright thanks for the replies i was just wondering cuz my bro might be getting into it and i am about to turn 18.

the reason that younger kids dont gain as much has to do with the super fast metabolism. They just cant eat enough to gain!

I think that genetics has a bigger role on the body compared to working out when you are younger. I worked out when young and was very active, but never got a "solid" muscular base to work with. I have very tight muscles, but when I dont work out they get very small.

Having said that, working out when young will affect the rest of your life style, and how much of your genetic potential is fullfulled. But, there is no reason that a person cant work up to a similar fitness level starting at 25 instead of starting at 14. It will just take much longer to get there.

Interesting thought, if I had been lazy and gotten fat with a slow metabolism from sitting around as a child, would I gain muscle easier than I do now with my fast and active metabolism?

I have a question as well.....I am 21 turning 22 in feb and have been a gymnast my entire life. I started lifting like crazy when I was in 9th grade and was always the stongest on my team..however I was completley overtraining and didn't have the diet in check( when I say this I mean not eating 6 times a day and eating fat free, I always ate a crazy amt of protein being a gymnast but also didn't have the macros right). My goals at this point are to build as much as possible and to compete and go as far as it will bring me....when do you think I could/ should incorporate steroids into the process? Do you think I even should?

i didnt lift weights seriously until 9th or 10th grade, but ever since 5th grade i used to do upwards of 300 pushups a night, daily. i have always had huge pecs, and i contribute it to these pushups, bc i dont see a genetic link to anybody else in my family having unproportionally huge pecs (but thats not a complaint)
