Test drove the new M5 yesterday.

What... a... car!

The looks from girls was almost as impressive as the car's capabilities. That thing cradles you, growls around you, and does exactly what you want it to, when you want it to. I've never had a driving experience like that. I get back to the showroom, and the salesman says they have me approved, and the paperwork is drawn up. I won't spend that on a car... I can't justify it.

Aside from the fact that I may get fired for taking my boss skiing, it's all I've been thinking about. If you could, would you?

Lucky you, they wont let you test drive one here cause... they're all sold til 2007... yes you heard it, the waiting list for Canada is 18 months. The new M6 ? 2006 and 2007 are all sold too.

i'm ok mon. speaking of cars, i'd like a new car. even a new used one. not sure which way to go though. want something fast (~300 hp) and lighter/smaller if possible...that accelerates nicely at 60+mph, takes the abuse i give it, etc...$30k-40k range. i'm probably one of those that perhaps could put that money to better use, but do you have any suggestions? i'm partial to the 350z. wondering if a used M3 is a good idea.

350z, ok... But if you're in NJ and want all-wheel drive for snowy winters instead of rear wheel- go for the Subaru WRX or STI. The M3 comes all-wheel too though- no?

Anyway, the STI. Brand new, it's in your price range, in your HP range, and it is hella fun to drive. It's fast and it's pretty stock, right off the lot without any mods. Mine made it through two snowy NY winters, and rallied through two muddy spring and summers.

M3 is RWD. 325i and 330i come AWD and RWD. Honestly, it aint that bad driving RWD with snow and shit. Get a good set of tires and learn.
