It`s been killing me. I have a Panasonic phone system hardwired in my house where the phones are interconnected with a panel and it has 2 door speaker phones and intercoms. The back door works fine, but the front door at different times gets a very loud feedback in the phones earpiece when I answer it after the doorbell is pushed. The sound maes it impossible to hear and one MUST hang up immediately.

I faintly remember something about a device to wrap around the cable to prevent feedback or something... Maybe a magnet type thing... don`t know. Anyone know what this is? The central (junction box) is maybe 10-12 feet away from the front doorbell. Could it be too close thus causing the interference/humming/feedback?

Answer the damn question. please lol

Also, I already called customer service. They said they never heard of anything like this. My cousin has the same exact system and he has the same problem. lol Are we the only 2 freaking people this has happened to? wtf????????????

Is the intercom near the phones? If so it sounds like feedback squeal.
Have you tried turning the intercom off while on the phone?

Here's a thought:

I just replaced the furnace in the house and the interference on the tv and phones that require electricity went away.

*shrug*

The phones are fine until the front doorbell rings and I pick up one of the phones inside the house to answer the doorbell. Then I hear a loud feedback. So the noise is only when I`m trying to talk with the outside speaker/intercom/doorbell.

Although there is one phone is about 20 feet away from the intercom, the other phones throughout the house that are much further also make a noise. It also comes and goes, some days it would do it and some days it would`nt. I used to think it was from rain/wetness but not really sure.

Velvett, that is true in certain situations, depending on what type of furnace you had. Anything with a motor can cause that stuff. I was told that about my TV antenna in the attic and my heat furnace up there.

You won't believe this but i had a weird suitation similar to yours on a service call to a customers home.
The culpert-----------------Doorbell transformer.
Should be located in the attic close to the Chimes, You can get one at lowes or home depot for around $8.00

There are ferrite cores that you snap around the end of a wire, but those are to eliminate RF interference from audio or video cables.

Yep, you can get some snap on ferrite cores as Mr Db said. Similar to the ones that are on any comouter monitor cable. You just need to isolate any emi source, (where the interferance is coming from). I used to sell the shit. There are likely some online companies that may sample ya. Companies like magnetics Inc, Ferrite, and Epcos make the cores.

Thanks maybe I`ll try the ferret things. I hate their smell though. Oh well. They ARE cute.

Also, RADAR, it does`nt really have a transformer for the bell. I understand what you`re saying in a traditional set-up, but this comes with the phone system. The door bell is pressed and all the phones inside the house ring until you pick one of them up. So the phone is the "chime" No transformer other than for the door release which is`nt even used yet at the point of the noise.

Thanks anyway bros. I applaud you for your effort. I`m not happy though. I shall live with the fact that EF let me down on this subject.

I don't know if they still have them, but Radio Shack used to sell a snap-on ferrite core.

Doorbell transformers are noisy little bitches...

make sure that thing is grounded properly and not near any other wires or equipment that it might be able to push it's 'noise' onto.....

Don't you have doorbell chimes? If so you have a transformer.

lol NO. I have a pushbutton outside. One in the front and one in the back. It also has a speaker for an intercom. When you push the button the PHONES ring inside the house. It is a phone system like in an office at work/place of business etc. When you hear the phones ringing, you can pick up any one of them throughout the house and talk with the person at the front or back door.

THEN if you want to "buzz" them in, you can do that at the phone as well. It`s not really a buzz, it`s a momentary "click" and the lock opens up. The door release has a transformer, BUT... like I said before, the door release is not activated when you pick up the phone, only if you press it to let someone in after speaking with them, so it has nothing to do with this particular problem.

Ejactulator, maybe you`re right about the wires being close to other cables. I can`t really seperate them anymore. I thought that may be a problem.

Also, I purchased another speaker/pushbutton to replace the existing one, but I highly doubt that would do it. I have`nt tried it yet.

The sound is simiar to a feedback of a microphone when held too close to the speakers and it makes that feedback (really loud) sound. Then you lower the amp volume or whatever to get rid of it... Someon`es gotta know this. Maybe it`s more of an audio specialist thing. The whole system is rendered useless until I can hear and speak to the front door!

How else can I post on EF without getting up? lol

Get up off your lazy ass and see who's at the door instead of using the intercom..

Do you have any idea how huge my house is?

Almost 800 square ft. x 2 floors. lol It takes me at least 5-6 seconds to walk from one end to the other.

Do you fix your car if it breaks down or do you ditch it and walk to work?

Can I hire someone to exclusively answer the doorbell?
