I got hacked opened yesterday to have the cyst taken out of my wrist. It wasn't much fun. I'm now sporting big iv bruises on the tops of my hands and a sexy incision on my left wrist.
They pushed all of the blood up from my fingertips up towards my shoulder to get as much blood as they could out of my arm-- then they put a tournicate up on my bicep. Then they flooded my arm with stuff to numb it. It was kind of nifty. Anyhow, in the process of pushing the blood out, they broke the cyst up a bunch and even though they had me open for just shy of an hour, there was little they could do for me. So now I'm in the same pain I was in before, plus surgical pain.
Now I have to wait for it to get big again (they said that there's almost no way it won't return) and get a more complicated surgery....likely later this summer. I'm not too excited. No lifting or anything else on this wrist for 6 weeks....then I have to get ready to do all of this again. I'm beyond bummed out about the whole situation. My drs felt awful. The only good part of it was when I was all stressed out pre-surgery and they put big shots of versed in my iv. That was heaven.
I was at my parents place last night but I'm home now. Planning on working tomorrow. Taking tylenol 3. Elevating and icing. Thanks for the prayers and support-- I'm okay, hurting and really disappointed that I have to do this again, but I'll be okay.
