So i was taking my son to Guitar Center to get some picks for his guitar. Its in a strip mall next to an Army Recruiting center. So as we pass, we see an Army Officer standing outside in full gear, smoking a cigarette. My son says "Mom I want to go thank man for protecting our country, is that ok?" And I say "sure go ahead".
So he walks up to this dude, and says "thanks for your service to our country". (I'm a proud parent at this point)
Well, the gentleman was so impressed and amazed at being thanked He says "You're the first person to ever do that. Come on in here" and he brings us inside the Army office there, takes us into the back storage room, and starts filling my purse with Army merchandise like water bottles, key chains, pencils, etc.
My son was thanking him profusely as did I. So then we left and went next door to Guitar Center. We're standing in Guitar Center and the Army dude comes walking up to us and hands us more stuff "Oh i forgot to give you these stickers and other stuff"
"Wow, thank you so much. That's really nice of you"
"Ya'll come back by on your way out, I have more stuff to give you can share with your classmates too"
So we went back there after Guitar Center and the dude filled up a huge mesh Army bag with a box of little Army basketballs, more pencils, pens, folders, wristbands, etc.
He seemed really touched by my son's appreciation. It made me feel real good.
