Stupid Question: Does anyone bother to shave the area that they are injecting?

It makes no difference whether you shave or not prior to an injection. As long as you can get the skin itself sterile with the swab before you shoot, you're good to go. The hair follicles are going to remain beneath the skin regardless of whether or not you shave the surface hair off. Getting a tattoo is a lot different than an injection. When you go in to the doc's for a shot of any type, do they shave the area first? Fuck no. I hit the quads on a regular basis and have never shaved, and never will- and never had a problem with it.

I agree .....you do not have to shave just keep sterile!!

Just swab it with alcohol like a mutha. If you shave it, it opens your pores. Youll be much more likely to get an infection that way. After you inject, wipe with cold water and alcohol and you will be straight.

I am not saying you have to shave, just an added precaution. I had arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder. A tiny hole in front and a tiny hole in back. Did they HAVE to shave my armpit to do this...no, but they did as a precaution. If you've ever had a hot,red lump under your skin and felt like shit you'd probably be more cautious too.

Sorry AJC.....my butt is not hairy so I do not have to shave it. But I do shave the rest of my body so in some ways I do and I don't. But would I think it is necessary...no.
