So the Democrats up the spending by 45 billion or so, to hook up the worst off (Disabled Veterans, the Unemployed, even put some cash in there so the poorest people in the country could get some subsidized heat!).

But here's the big kicker, they sort of tweaked the rebate check thing to be $500-$1000 instead of $600-$1200 just single/married now its a more sliding scale and the cutoff point is $150K for singles and $300 for families! This is good news because then I could cash in on it, as it stands, I don't get anything from the 160 billion dollar spending measure.

The Republicans are pissed over the re-write though and are filibustering the thing! I think they will re-write it once again and get it through, but who knows if the final plan will have the increased wage limits to qualify for the rebate check.

The president initially wanted it to go to taxpayers who made up to 150K, but to get it passed the libs HAD to give some of it away to the sumbitches who didn't pay in shit, that's fucking great logic.

1) people who hired them to fix Bush's fuckups - pissed. Congress hasn't done shit.
2) republicans. Dont' like them cuz they're democrats.

So there's almost no one left who will 'approve' of them. Think of them as cops hired to do a job.

With Bush, he's higher - cuz at least he can count on approvals from republican voters, military, hispanics, etc.

The entire package is flawed.

Tax rebates do not jump start the economy. Only things like tax cuts, that permanently affect disposable income, do. It didn't work for Nixon in the 1970's, it didn't work for Bush in 2001, and it will not work now.

As a general rule learn that good politics makes for bad economics.

the more I read that thing, the stupider it gets. If you're single, $300-$600 ain't shit.......that might lessen your bills for a month, but that's it. If you've got a family, $1200 ain't gonna do shit either. Where do these people think that this is going to "inject demand" into the economy? The things that are still made in this country and that really do help our economy, will not become more affordable with a couple hundred extra bucks in your pocket. And How many young guys are going to go out and buy 360's or ps3's with that rebate? You can't even call this a "stop gap" measure because by definition, "stop gap" implies some sort of "effect". This will have no effect on what ails the country. Mineswell give us all our money back and just pack up and leave washington.........shut it down, we're better off without a fed govt., or at least one that runs like the one in DC. Completely ineffectual. And people wonder why so many of us are livid that trillions of our dollars get spent on rebuilding foreign countries that we crumbled. The fed has got away with shitting our money away on things that don't affect us for decades........and now as things are getting bad, they offer us what is pretty much "pennies". And even this rebate will set the govt back even further into debt because they can't control their spending. Shameful.
