Let's look at a scenario where someone breaks into your apartment and steals some videos with you doing goofy shit. Puts them online.

I think that is very different than borrowing a school cam corder from the AV department. Then using a tape in it that has the school's basketball team on it, and then recording over that your own little dance, and then returning the camera with the tape in it.

That is something that sucks, but it is his own stupidity. He took school property, used it to record himself, and then returned the school property. Someone else viewed it and made it public - just the same as if they were going to put up videos of the basketball players.

I have no sympathy for him at all - beyond just thinking "oh shit, bummer - next time remember to take the tape out."
