Soy Protein Isolate

Wow, thanks so much for all the info Tami and Thandie - and for the great almond milk recipe which I'm going to make right away! I knew alot of the info on cows milk after a half hearted attempt at being a vegan many, many years ago (failed miserably after two weeks because I felt so ill!) but I seriously didn't know that much about soy. I should have really though, especially after 10 years of consuming it and even more so as I am so diligent with what I consume. I guess it's because I started using soy as an alternative to dairy before I started with healthy eating and fitness so it slipped the net somehow. Isn't it disgusting though what is pumped into our foods nowadays and that we really don't know what is going on! I feel quite sad and sick after reading all of that :( On the other hand, I have also learnt that I should be soaking my quinoa before cooking for maximum enzyme release - so there have been many lessons learnt from all of this today :)

Thandie's recipe for almond milk looks great!

.....we're glad to help :)

'Remember that soy is slower acting than Whey so it is purely a protein supplement - doesn't really act as a post workout protein.'

Hello ladies! My name is Rachael and I am new to this forum - just joined yesterday (thought it was about time!) but have been lurking in the shadows for some time now!

Sorry to ressurect an old post but I just wanted to ask a question about the above quote: I am seriously lactose intolerant and have been drinking 1 x soy protein shake as post work out for the last year or so, thinking it was having the same effect as a whey shake :( ..... does this mean that it would be more beneficial to have maybe eggs as a pwo snack instead?

Your advice is greatly appreciated!
Rachael x

P.S - I forgot to say it's great to find so many women with such a heathly attitude to food and fitness and I have leant so much from you all from you very informative posts - a big thank you!

I am pretty sure Dougie from Extreme designed all his products for people who are lactose intolerant as he is lactose intolerant, they are based in Scotland.

Yes, always soak your grains, with the exception of millet, buckwheat and coucous.
