So...what was the deal with Affirmative Action Oscars Tonite

I bet some of you guys were dissapointed that Moulin Rouge did not win.

Actually I did not have a problem with Sydney Poitier's speech or award. Very classy and eloquent.

I did not have a problem with Halle Berry winning, but here acceptance speech went went over board when she started comparing herself with a bunch of greats from the past. I mean Whoopi even did a great Job i the color purple.
That being said I just hated the fact about all the blah blah blah wbout it being hisorical and all this shit. Cmon its 2002, they have been doing that show for years, tons of men and women of all kinds of colrs and background get nominated and only one person in each category wins ie more people lose. People from all kinds of backgrounds have been winning or being honored for years(look at some of these foreig film makers.

It was just that then the bandwagon shit people were jumping on after that got annoying. Kind of started reminding me of a Ryan H "nake the white guy feel guilty thread"

I just know that D. Washington is a bad motherfucker and I enjoy watching almost anything he's in. If you haven't seen "Training Day", go rent it.

I don't watch the Oscars. I am sure it was sickeningly politically correct, but I know Denzel Washington is deserving.

I haven't seen Training Day, but all his movies are good. I just saw Remember the Titans for the first time on video last night, ironically.

I found training day to be a little too much. I sat there watching it, saying to myself, "i'm not buying this tripe."

Washington is a great actor, but i thought it was WAY over done....I just didn't believe his charactor.

Let me preface this by saying:

Denzel is badass, he is definitley oscar material. Halle, I'm not so sure.

Now, onto my point. I hope at next years oscars, a white oscar winner gets up and says,

"This is for Russel Crowe, and Judy Dench, and all the other white people who didn't get an oscar because it was given to Halle Berry and Denzel Washington."

Now that would be funny. Isn't that the equivalent of what Halle said?
