Shoulder Surgery

Trouzer

New member
I am set to have arthroscopic repair of a labral tear in my right shoulder in December of 2001. This doctor is projecting 6 weeks to full movement; and 6 to 9 months before full use for bench press full weight. Most information about shoulder surgery recovery, are on rotator cuff injury of ball players. I guess my quads are going to get punished!

Query: Anyone had any experience with this type of injury?
Has recovery time been known to be shorter than
expected for an athlete with this type of injury?

yes. 8 months ago i had my left shoulder scoped. i had a torn labrum, rotator cuf was a small tear, instability was a problem as was scar tissue. I went to a sling post surgery with my doc wanting me to move the arm in limited movements. Rehab sucks as your subject to NO LIFTING the weights you used to.. I stress that you take it serious though. after 5 months i used deca 300mg/wk for 8 weeks and It was great. My shoulder felt great and my strength also came back. basically the deca helped me get back to my old self. I would recommend deca strongly after you get your range of motion back. good luck.

I thank you for the information. I can't imagine training without any pain in this shoulder. I am hoping to get better gains after recovery!

Hey Trouzer, I work as a physician assistant for a group of orthopedic surgeons. Shoot me a PM if you have any other questions regarding surgery or recovery time.

Good idea about the deca for recovery. I have two tendon lesions inside my left sholder that cause painful anterior and medial dislocations more frequently than I'd like. I'm scheduled for sholder surgey after this school year (April) and am not lookin forword to becoming scarny :( But legs and abs will be fantastic :D
But doc said all should be good after six to ten months for heavy liftin again. I was thinkin of just takin anavar after the surgery but deca and test with it sounds good too. Oh so many choices!
