yesterday, cleaning my room i was on the floor and to get up I do a push-up motion. well i felt something pop/move/whatever (clearly im not a doc)..

long story short - im in bed, i can not move, ive searched for muscle pain cures and all it says is time and cold/heat.

ive never felt this type of pain before - i am 23 and in good health - the best word to describe the pain is excruciating.

i literally drop to my knees if i move, it feels like a knife going through my neck.

sorry that was so unorganized -

i am looking for advice from people with similar problems or nurses or docs or whatever

please help, and fast - thanks

you have probably experienced a muscle strain in your neck. yes it is excruciating. you should go to the doc. they can prescribe anti-inflammatories (in the meantime take some advil) as well as methylprednisone which will alleviate some of the inflammation in your tendons/ligaments and thus relieve some pain. they may also prescribe muscle relaxants and/or pain meds but neither of those worked that well for me.
i also had to go to weeks of PT in order to resolve my neck pain. they did a lot of deep tissue massage to loosen the balled up muscle in my neck/trap/shoulder. its like the muscle is spasming when it shouldnt be.

good luck

Do you have a chiro? Sounds like you popped something out of alignment, most likely part of your cervical spine since it is so high.

Nothing to mess around with though - a pinched nerve in that area can bring paralysis. Don't bother with docs for diagnosis because they won't know what is going on but they can give you pain meds while you go get an x-ray and figure it out.

thank you, that was more help than i figured to get - did you go to a doctor (general physician) or hospital though?

(yes, i know doctors work at hospitals too for all those interweb smartarse's out there)

Yes I would go see a chiro. This happens to me more and more as my life turns futher and further to shit!
The chiro should either put heat on it or heat and elect stim then adjustment. The bad news is it will take 3-7 days to go away.
Also drink lots of water to help get the bad stuff out of your muscles...

Hospital will have you waiting 4 hours to give you drugs - go to a walk in clinic, much faster and they will give you better drugs.

In my experience GP's don't know anything about joints/muscles which is why I suggested the chiropractor. $35 is about standard because treatment is only about 15 minutes.

Yep and a chiro will see you with in an hour max no matter how busy they are. They know how to keep the revolving door moving!!!

Ive never been to a chiro
I went to an orthopedic doctor. He knew exactly what to do, they had an xray machine right in the office. He prescribed the exact right medication and sent me to PT which helped tremendously. I can only speak from my own experience, but the ortho route worked well for me

I just had physical therapy today, my 7th appointment since my most recent bout with this kinda pain.

I've had it a few times before, and each time it happens it gets worse. I am 31 now, it first started in my mid 20s.

Usually I can't pinpoint what brings it on, my doc says its probably a combination of things like posture and vigorous jerking off that gets exasperated by someting acute like playing volleyball.

I wish I knew how to prevent it.

The last time I had it, I could barely move for 3 days, the entire right side of my torso was affected, it was tough to sleep.

Also I find it funny how EVERYONE has some miracle cure, and they usually get pissed when you don't do what they think is best.

Examples are accupuncture, chiropractor, physical therapy, ortho, yoga, pilates, etc.

I went to my ortho, to rule out any serious damage, he gave me 8 sessions of PT, more if I need it, but the PT did a combination of active stretches, exercises, some heat and electro stimulation, and massage.

I like chiropractors for back/neck pain. I had some massive back pain the last few weeks, one trip in, he xrayed me, popped some shit around and I immediately felt 60% better. After the next visit I was about 80% better. Going back again this week.

Lestat - how is a chiropractor or physical therapy a miracle cure? Pretty common shit right there.

Well if you wouldnt have put the e-stim on your balls, maybe it would have worked...

miracle cure as in "if you JUST do this you'll be fine in days!!!"
