Well, I went in and they did a bunch of testing at a urologist's office. I may have a kidney tumor. Im going down to boston to see a specialist this monday to find out for sure. So If you guys ever piss black... GO SEE A DOCTOR!!!

About a week and half ago I woke up with severe nasuea. Before I threw up I had to urinate. To my horror my urine was as black as it could be. I went to the ER and they did X-ray test, a urine test, and a STD test. I had no pains around my kidneys or in my bladder. They determined I had no urinary infection, no STD, or kidney stones. When all was said in done they simply said I had (spelling) Hemeraturia, "Blood in the urine". Iknew that before I even had gone in. So anyways yesterday I go to the gym and do chest... 4 hrs later when i urinate same thing happened again. When it happened a week and half ago, the night before i had gone to the gym. Is this excersice related? Anyone have anything like this happen to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way I'm a 24 yr old male 5'10 225 pnds 12%bf.

Was a urine myoglobin sent? Did they check your creatinine and CPK levels?

Screw the emergency room you need a urologist

Not necessarily. If he has rhabdomyolysis, then he needs an admission, hydration, and strict I/O's to prevent renal failure.

How old are you?

Asymptomatic hematuria in those >50 is a tumor until proven otherwise.

For someone younger, you wonder about other causes. Your "black" urine is probably more tea colored, and could be from rhabdomyolysis from overtraining. By chance did you have extreme muscle soreness?

My dad's at home recovering from kidney cancer op and it really is ok. Aparently we only need a third of our kidney to function base-line. But the other kidney should take over the work of both - increase h20 for sure. Incidently, he had the op done via key-hole surgery so he doens't have such a gapping hole.

Well, if I was peeing dark fluid, I think the ER would have been the right choice, especially accompanied by vomiting.

Not sure if all hospitals do this, but one place I saw had special diets for Kidney patients, a 6 pack of beer / day. Such a deal, beer in the hospital.

Im 24... and it was not tea colored. It was black as black can be. Yes I had soreness the day of my workout which is unusual for me. Whenever I go to the gym the black urine comes back. Each time I go to the gym my strength seems to drop by third. No exageration at all.

Sounds like rhabdomyolysis.

You need your CPK checked (as well as an aldolase).

CPK's >6,000 have a 30% chance of acute renal failure, so be very careful with working out. I've had rhabdo before. It sucks.

my kidneys hurt just from reading this thread.lol ...renal floor patients can be a nightmare sometimes.
