Where to get mifepristone in the U.S.
Mifepristone or Mifeprex (formerly RU-486) was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on September 28, 2000 and U.S. shipments to health care providers began on November 20, 2000. While mifepristone is not yet widely available at U.S. clinics, the following information should assist you in locating mifepristone nationwide.
You may want to call the National Abortion Federation¹s (NAF) toll-free, bilingual hotline at 1-800-772-9100 for a list of health care providers who offer Mifeprex or visit NAF's web site on early options at
http://www.earlyoptions.org
Contact your local Planned Parenthood to find out if they are providing Mifeprex for early pregnancy termination. Planned Parenthood health centers nationwide are already offering Mifeprex for early pregnancy termination.. To find out if a local Planned Parenthood Clinic offers Mifeprex call 1-800-230-PLAN or visit PPFA's website at
http://www.plannedparenthood.org
To find out more about the mifepristone procedure, visit the Mifeprex website at

Your best chance of getting mifepristone may still be the U.S. clinical trial sites. Thanks to the Abortion Rights Mobilization (ARM) and the Feminist Majority for this list.

Another Drug for Terminating Pregnancy
Methotrexate is a drug originally used to treat cancer that can be used to terminate pregnancy. It works by blocking the absorption of Folic Acid (while RU-486 stops the absorption of Progesterone.) Although Methotrexate is approved by the FDA for cancer treatment, it is not officially approved for terminating pregnancy. However, it has been used extensively to terminate tubal pregnancies by Ob-Gyn physicians since 1988. (Pregnancies can occur when the egg and sperm lodge in the fallopian tubes, rather than the uterus.)
Recently, Methotrexate has been used electively by Ob-Gyn's to terminate pregnancies in the uterus. To get a medical abortion with Methotrexate, please contact your Ob-Gyn or one of the following providers:
Planned Parenthood: (800) 230-7526
San Francisco: (415) 668-1010
Oakland: (510) 444-5676
Walnut Creek: (510) 935-3010

So this pill has been around for a long time as a cancer medication.
